As it is rather hot over here as well and I'm breastfeeding a newborn I enjoy a cold glass of coconut water (juice).

I also like a cold whey protein smoothie with either coconut milk or homemade almond milk.

Cold Hibiscus Infusion. Though my family won't drink it without sugar... I like it straight and sour. Yum!

I am trying to be low carb to lose weight, and I've been loving lemonaide sweetened with Stevia (the liquid, non bitter variety from Now).

I juice 7-8 lemons (I like it on the tart end), going for about 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 cups of juice, and add enough water to be the strength I like. It probably makes 1 1/2 qts. I put an overflowing 1/2 tsp of Stevia in it and it's so good! I like that it alkalinizes my body in addition to tasting refreshing.

I converted some of my milk kefir grains to juice and brew it in half juice and half water. The kefir metabolizes a lot of the sugar so it's not nearly as bad for you as plain juice, slightly fizzy and if you don't let it go too long just a tad sweet. Yum.

I like the hibiscus infusion in the kombucha idea, that sounds delish!

I love to make herbal teas and keep them in the fridge. Many of them have a high vitamin/mineral content and are really refreshing and tasty. Use any of your favorite teas... I like nettle, alfalfa, hibiscus, barley, mint, rosemary, lemon balm, etc. you can combine them too (hibiscus + mint = yum).

How does one make hibiscus infusion?

I like to make a 'punch' with cold fruity teas and juices. I sweetenit just a bit with honey, b/c it tends to taste diluted over ice.

very refreshing.

It's made like tea although I steep it longer than black tea, you can buy the flowers called jamaica wherever they sell Latin American foods.

Yeap. I dump a bunch of dried blossoms in a jar, pour water over them, let it sit 12-24 hours, and then strain. At which point I save some unsweetened for me and some sweetened for the fam. Some folks like to leave the jar in sunlight.

Chilled nettle tea or infusion? It hasn't been hot here this summer yet, sorry that's the best I can come up with!!

We've been enjoying whey soda around here, it's so good!

Here's a recipe, adapt it to your own preference - I've used several kinds of juices and all are good. You could also do ginger water to make a ginger ale.

Also right now with kombucha being pulled off the shelves, I've started brewing my own again. I'm abstaining cuz of my remaining mercury fillings but the kids want it and are upset we can't get any right now!

Ginger beer! The instructions in NT are fine but I prefer to use grated fresh ginger if I have it - gives a stronger flavour. You can also make it in the same way as kvass - put a slice of bread, sugar, ginger and water in your container and leave. Strain and bottle after a week and let stand another fortnight to get fizzy. That is the way we made it when I was a kid.

Homemade lemonade with some herbs added is SO freshing. Rosemary and Thai Basil are particularly nice. I learned the hard way though to only add the leaves, and no longer than overnight. If you put the stems in as well (unless they are tender and green), your lemondade will have an unpleasant woody taste.
