Is there a thread for (urban or rural) Chicken Farmers?

We have ten chicks, almost two weeks old. I'm looking for others raising chickens! Is there a sticky for that anywhere?

Hubby wants to leave this weekend and leave them in the hen house....I'm not sure they are old enough and don't feel comfortable doing that. Any experience with leaving chicks?

I'm sure there is lots of info over on the Country living forum.

We have 4 hens right now too. Depending on what kind of hen house, how big, if its cool enough, etc. Do you have a neighbor that can check on them during the day?

I'd have someone check on them at least. At 2 weeks they can start getting rambunctious and jump on the waterers and knock them over, etc. So I guess it depends on your setup! And it can be amazing how much food/water they go through all of a sudden....

At three weeks old, they don't have much feather cover and still need some supplemental heat... about 85 degrees or so. Is the temp in the henhouse warm enough?
