backyard fencing - most secure?

We have an U-shaped backyard that wraps around our L-shaped house. All margins of our property have privacy fence on them from our neighbors, but our yard is open from the margins to the house. It's very short distance that we need to build to secure the backyard.

What I'd like is to put up a fence that I can feel safe about.

My daughter is 7 and is generally very, very cautious. I'd like to be able to garden in the backyard and know she's within the fence and hasn't drifted out of bounds for some reason or another. With the U-shaped yard there's no way for me to see the whole yard at once and know where she is. Unnerving!

I really prefer the clean look of black steel fencing, but I have a feeling that plain old board on board privacy fencing is more secure because people can't look to see what may or may not be in the backyard.

Am I overthinking this? Should I put up a fence that I will love long-term, or should I choose privacy fence?

we just have standard wooden 4ft fence. Works great. We can buy them at places like Lowe's or Home Depot. Looks fine to me. While it does keep the children in a dedicated space I know I don't need it for that. They are 2 and 4. They stay in the front yard which isn't fenced just fine. When we visit others with no fence I quickly point out their boundaries and they stay where they should. Does your daughter tend to wonder?
