Baby's sttn, when will *I*?

Arrrg! Three nights in a row the baby has slept for ten straight hours.

Sooooooo...when am *I* going to start STTN again and not waking up every three hours, at every snort and whimper and sometimes just to check her breathing and give her a little shake to see if she's still alive?

I love co-sleeping, but MAN, I seem to be the only one not getting any sleep anymore!:yawning

Good for your baby! Enjoy it! I remember when our DD, now 10 months, started sleeping long stretches around 8 weeks (it didn't last more than a month) and how I kept waking up to check on her for the first few nights. Since then, she goes in waves for how often she wakes up (sometimes 3 or more times a night, sometimes once). If she's been waking up every night around about 1am but then starts sleeping past that, I usually wake up around that time for a couple of nights before I get used to it.

My answer is NEVER! But that its okay.
Somehow (I believe) we are programmed by nature to adapt and adjust.

Your instincts and hormones are in full gear to keep your baby taken care of.
Things will get much better though.
I have a 7, 5, and 2 month old.
I am always somewhat aware of all of their situations.
When my son has a bad dream I wake from his fast breathing.
When my daughter has allergies or her stomach is sick I can actually sense it.
When the new baby needs to eat (this is from experience), I know if its just stirring around or hunger.
As a mother you will be in tune with the needs of your children.
Time will make you calm and sleep better, when your sure the baby really is ok!

Dont worry it gets so much easier.
Till they are teenagers I hear!!

I know I will soon, but right now I feel like I have no excuse for not being well rested...she's sleeping...why can't I? She's sleeping, she's fine...fer chrissake, lady, go to sleep!

With ds he was moved into his own room at two months (he is energized by other people and just will not if there is someone else in the bed.) and he STTN so soon, 6 hours by 3 months, 10-12 by the time he was 5 mo old...he was a champion sleeper and I got used to it so smoothly. From 3 months to 5 months he added like ten minutes of sleep each night so that I barely even noticed the transition, until one day I woke up from the sun beaming through a crack in our blackout shutters looked at the clock, saw it was 9am and I nudged DH and made him go check on the baby in case he was dead. I just couldn't bear the thought so I made him go.

I think if she sleeps through the night tonight I will move her to DH's side of the bed and then of course she'll probably wake up...

Isn't it funny how conditioned we get to not sleeping through the little stirrings? I can't even fathom how dh can sleep through it all.
