nighttime scare with my baby...

Goodness, I really need some support about now. Last night scared me so much, I'm not quite sure what to do next. Well last night my partner went to feed our 8 week old daughter since I didn't wana have to breastfeed yet again that night. Well he went to feed her around 2:30am. I woke up around 4 and found my child slouched off his chest in what seemed face down into his blanket from my side of the bed !! I picked her up and yelled his name in a panic. She was asleep when I picked her up, still breathing. But I was so terrified to find her in that position. Don't know if she really was smooshed into the blankets or not, but it definitely wasn't a safe position either way. My partner says he feed her, put the bottle down and was holding her till she feel asleep. Guess he fell asleep too. There's no telling how long it had been since she rolled off his chest.

I just don't know what to do. I'm still really shook up. He is a heavy sleeper, but I always thought he'd wake up if something like this was to happen. Anyone else have similar experiences? What should I do to prevent this? Should I stop letting him feed her at night? Should I stop co-sleeping? Should I stop placing her between the two of us at night?

Also, is there any chance that being deprived of oxygen could hurt her (if she was or wasn't I don't know) developmentally or something?

It sounds like she's fine. Does she have good head control? If so, don't worry - babies will pick up their head and move it if its in a bad position. If not, consider waiting until she does before letting dad do that again.
