Strange question

Okay, so I don't shave under my arms and haven't for twenty years. I am not a hairy person and don't see the need.Anyway, now that it is hotter I am wearing tank tops and short sleeve shirts. When my son is nursing he will pull at it! I think that it is comforting to him or something. I don't know what to do! It hurts, well, hurt is too strong of word, but it definitely is irritating. I try and cover it, but he usually just removes the cover and pull it. Or I say "ouch" or remove his hand, but that doesn't work either. Should I just shave this summer? Or is there a way to get him to stop without breaking out the razor? BTW, he is ten months.

Our DD is 10 months and there is a mole on my right arm by my armpit that she likes to play with/pinch/pull if I'm wearing a tank top. It hurts! I also tried covering it, but she also removes the cover to play with it. Have you tried a mommy or nursing necklace? Or give him a small toy to hold and play with to distract him? I've found that works with our DD. If he keeps pulling at it, it's probably a personal decision whether you want to shave or deal with him pulling on your hair. Good luck!

Wow that makes me cringe... I bet it hurts!!

DS likes to pinch my armpits when he is in his ring sling, and it make me nuts!!

I would try a nursing necklace. I made one out of wood beads, DS loves it. I think he likes the satin string they are on even better than the beads though!

Me too! (but left arm) I just keep moving his hand away.

I would just shave it.

Ha! My just-turned-11-mo does the exact same thing! Super annoying! I just cover it with my hand until he loses interest. IMO shaving would be equally annoying. I might make my own nursing necklace if it gets any worse.

Not sure if shaving would really help. I have and my guy pinches me while breastfeeding.

I just don't tolerate anything like that (twiddling, pinching, etc.). I can't stand it. Just cover it with your hand and don't let him do it. He'll be frustrated but eventually he'll stop.

I hadn't thought of a necklace! I will try that. Thanks!

I think the necklace idea is great! Although, you probably won't be wearing a necklace all the time and so if it were me, I'd shave it knowing that that doesn't mean I suddenly have to start shaving my armpits every week. I go weeks and weeks without shaving. I don't make a point to remember to do it...it just happens once in awhile when I feel like it so it's no bother. You could probably do it one time and it'd be short enough to solve the problem for the rest of the summer!

Where do I get armpit hair like that???? I have to shave my arm pits every other day if I want to wear a tank top. TOTALLY annoying and painful. My hair grows so fast and is black. Blah... sorry. Off topic.

What's a nursing necklace? I don't wear any jewelry or anything, but this caught my eye because my 13-week old has already hit the "highly distractible" stage in nursing, which has made it hard for her to fall asleep for naps because I can't even nurse her to sleep; she's too interested in looking all around the room to investigate every sound and shadow (no matter how dark I try to make the room!). She won't tolerate a cover anymore either, she pulls it off.

I have this one. It looks like a pretty piece of rose quartz, but it's actually a teether. It looks nice and is awesome for distracting Cecilia. She doesn't pinch me when she nurses, but sometimes I have to keep her hands busy or she unlatches herself accidentally!

Lol! This made me laugh because today I was telling my husband that our daughter pinches my fat roles while she is eating!!

My ds is only 3 and a 1/2 months so I don't know if it is different with an older baby- but I remember reading about how to get them to not "twiddle" the other nipple while nursing- and the advice was to just not let them start1 My ds's hands reach out and want to hold on to something while nursing so I give him a thumb or finger and he grasps on to it. Like I said, maybe it is different w- a 10 month old? I don't know.

My daughter does this! I thought I was the only one. I've been shaving- it's easy for me and I don't mind it. (I'm keeping my legs furry, though!) Good luck with whatever you decide. If you do have to shave for a while, I'm sure he won't do this forever.

I would get waxed. It's quick and lasts forever! I do it about every four months or so and there's no stubble to worry about!

I just shaved my hair when DS started pulling on it. Now I am use to it and don't mind being hairless. Also he loves necklaces. I also hold his hand and kiss it, that seems to keep his hand out of his ear or twittling with my boobs.
