only 40mg of progesterone, and im dead tired...

Hi, any progesterone takers care to commiserate?
Im 4dpo today and started to take progesterone (progonb which comes in 13mg capsules)
I only took 3 capsules this morning-thats 39mg, nuthin'! And im suddenly dead tired. I know progesterone can make you feel this way, on much larger doses and after a few more days of taking it. Ive taken 200mg in past cycles, and it took me at least a week to feel like this.

I find it strange, and just wanted to share, in case anyone understands.

I hope its good sign actually, but its only 4dpo, so unlikely.

I used injectible FSH this cycle, and I had 5 or 6 follicles creating progesterone in my tww, plus I used Crinone suppositories. I took a nap, like, every...single...day. It was ridiculous. Progesterone is serious stuff. I hope you end up with a BFP out of it!

so. tired. here. (300mg vaginal, post-clomid). Literally had my ODS drag me out of bed this morning

You are taking oral? I know, for me, that my symptoms are way worse with oral progesterone.

Hope that yours means your body's producing tons of progest, too bc of an impending bfp!

I started natural progesterone cream at 3 dpo, I am now 5 dpo. Last night I was nauseous enough to throw up, today I felt like I must be coming down with the flu I was so whiny and tired. Nauseous this morning and afternoon.
I thought it must be the progesterone, but I used it last cycle and don't recall feeling so crappy.
Obviously it can't be pregnancy related at only 5dpo

Wow, with natural progesterone cream, you wouldnt be on such a high dose. What kind of dosage do you estimate? Would it be around 30mg? (ive used this before too) Those are pretty intense symptoms so early on.

I took this oral stuff last cycle, and i barely had any symptoms at all, and was looking forward to the same this cycle.

Whats going on for us all?? Hell, i hope it means we are pregnant!!

The only time i had intense symptoms on 4dpo with progesterone was the first time i took it a few years ago. I was intensely nauseous in the first few days. I got a bfp that cycle.

Not getting my hopes up this time tho...

I'm taking 100mg vaginally. 8dpo. Definitely feeling tired, and my temps are up. But overall my symptoms aren't too bad. Worse thing is the leaking...ew.

I feel fine today (darnit! )
I actually was musing about how I took an OPK this morning at about 10am and it was nearly +. Hoping that means something too. Man I so thought I wasn't going to obsess this cycle. You'd think I'd know better by now. Apparently 6dpo is the optimistic part of my cycle.

I have no idea the dose. For example yeaterday I went to the beach a couple hours after applying it. I don't know how long it takes to absorb. So in thoery days I sit inside and don't go swimming or sweat I should be getting a higher dose right?

Not trying to high-jack your thread...just trying to get all the info on progestrone that i can. I am on day 5 of my cycle. I went to see a new midwife (in an OB's office) yesterday because i am sure i have Luteal phase defect. AF came 10 DPO two months ago and 7 DPO last month. i went to midwife expecting to get progestrone to lengthen my luteal phase. BUT...I'M SO CONFUSED...she prescribed (after talking to a DR that I didn't even see) prometrium pills to take Days 5-12???? Have you ever heard of taking progestrone pills on THOSE DAYS? I asked for an explanation and felt like she couldn't even explain why??? I left, called the doc to talk to him...he was gone. Everything I read says to take progestrone after ovulation, not before??? Any thoughts???? Yesterday I was emotionally exhausted by this whole process, I am doing better today. But I haven't taken the progestrone because I don't think she was right??? thoughts appreciated.

My understanding is that most women will take progesterone 3dpo until a bfp and the continue or wean off it depending on their particular situation, or continue to take it for the first trimester. It would depend on the original reason why they are taking it.
Sounds to me like the protocol your doctor gave you is for someone not actively ttc, but trying to jumpstart a wacky cycle. I would double check. If pregnant, i would defintely not stop progesterone cold turkey on day12. IM no doctor tho...[

Just fyi, for the sake of this thread, i wanted to mention that i have been taking 100mg of vit b6 as well, and that could have affected my progesterone levels (by suppressing prolactin produced by breastfeeding)

I have had no more symptoms like that of dead tiredness, but i have also reduced my progesterone as well. I am now taking 13mg (1 capsule) in the morning, and 33mg at night (2 1/2 capsules) I have had no cramping or spotting like i did last cycle hen i took a larger dose (3 capsules in the morning and 4 at night) So i guess thats positive.

I believe the b6 might be responsible. Just fyi :-)

Am interested in hearing any updates from people who posted here before too :-)

I am in a similar situation as yours. On CD 10 I had a bleeding and told the nurse. She kept asking if it was spotting, I said no, it was like a clot of blood as if I was on my period and I was afraid it was going to start so early in my cycle when my last period was barely ending. So on CD11 she prescribed Prometrium. I was very hesitant to take it reading online that 'everyone' takes it after ovulating, but then I thought would I rather not take it and have a period start without ovulating? So I started taking it, it's been 3 days now and I don't know if it's going to get in the way of conceiving but at least my period hasn't started and I'm assuming that's why she prescribed it - it's hard to get info out of them sometimes. I'm still on the fence about it but only because I don't hear about others taking it during this time of the cycle but everyone's problems are different and it looks like both you and I were in a risk to start periods early so that's why it was given.

As for the symptoms - OMG I am sleeping all day and when I'm awake I can't stop yawning. I also feel like throwing up and get all sick. It's also making me feel bloated - I can't even button my jeans which were very loose at the waist that I used to wear with a belt (am hoping it's water retention and not getting fat from this). Also when I woke up this morning I had little tiny pimples covering my face and nose!!!!!!!!!! I hate it but at least it's doing what it's supposed to considering I haven't bled again.

oh my.

if you take prometrium before you o, you will not o. ff has good basic info on the cycle, if you havent checked it out, you might want to, or get a copy of taking charge of your fertility. then loan it to the midwife. holy cow. that's very strange. you really cant have af and then have another af on cd10. you can have dysfunctional uterine bleeding, but that's not the same, and if you are ttc, this is not the way to treat it.

the first half of your cycle, until ovulation, is dominated by estrogen. that's what gives you fertile cm and gets your cervix and endometrium ready. when you o, the egg pops out of a follicle that then becomes a cyst producing progesterone. if your cyst doesnt function well, your progesterone will be low and you will spot or have a short luteal phase. this is mainly why progesterone is prescribed. it is to mimic the corpus luteum cyst that should naturally occur and function strongly after ovulation, but sometimes doesnt.

a clot on day 10, if your af was still sort of going on, was likely af blood that just passed through the cervix, maybe because cervix was starting to open as you approached your fertile window, or you just were still bleeding, or it's unlikely but could even have been from ovulation, in which case, the progesterone supplement is ok. otherwise, if you took it, you wont o this cycle. do you know what day you usually o on?
