Would you trust this milk?

Hi! I have some frozen bm in my freezer and i dont know if I should use it. Our freezer is the traditional kind.. a refrigerator with it's own door and an attached freezer with its own door. The freezer is set to the coldest setting, and the power has never gone out and the freezer door doesnt get opened more than twice per day at the most. We dont let it hang open either. Milk is at the back. I have milk saved from January thru now. I know that the january milk is probably bad... but anyways.. how far in the past is the milk bad?

I'm nak and pak so sorry for weird grammar and typos!

Three months for normal freezer, six months for deep freeze. So, I would trust the stuff no older than three months for you.

I've heard 6 mos and 12 mos respectively. That being said, the bm just starts breaking down. It's not like it turns to poison, it's just not as nutritious. That being said, i've fed my LO milk that was 14 mos old.

Thanks- I'll taste it. I'm having my wisdom teeth taken out tomorrow and I'm likely going to need to give DD a few bottles of bm. My pumping output isn't that high, about 3oz each time I'm able to pump (DD is a grazer and nurses alot.. this is how we were able to control my oversupply).

Good luck with the dental work!

Are you give bottles because you are away from baby, or worried about the medication? Dental work does not require any break from nursing: http://www.kellymom.com/health/illness/dentalwork.html

I was going to be away from her for a bit She ended up thinking that the bottle was hillarious and found it to be a fun "toy" to chomp on. Oy!

I didn't get my teeth out- I have to wait a few weeks for that! The good news is that's plenty of time to pump and store "fresher" milk.
