BTDT moms...how big were your twins compared to your singletons?

I'm just curious more than anything...for those of you who have had more than one birth, what were the birth weights of your twins vs. your singletons, and how close to term were you? Everyone has been telling me not to worry, twins are ALWAYS smaller than a single baby, they shouldn't be as big as your girls were (DD2 was a 10-pounder), blah, blah, blah...but I can't help but wonder what your experiences are anyway. Anyone care to share?

Ds1 - 7lbs 14oz (born at 40 weeks + 2 days)
Dd1 - 7lbs 5oz (born at 39 weeks + 5 days)

Twins were born at 36 weeks + 6 days and these were their weights:

Ds2 - 5lbs 8oz
Dd2 - 6lbs 3oz

DD#1 @ 40w was 8 lbs 12 oz

Twins were born @ 34w2d:
DS#1 4 lbs 11 oz
DS#2 5 lbs 12 oz

Well, one of my singletons was very preterm, so I'm not going to count him in this.

My healthy singleton was born at 39 weeks and was 7 1/2 pounds.

My twins were born at 36 weeks 6 days, and were 5 pounds and 6 1/2 pounds. My tiny baby was DD2. If you assumed that they would have gained a half-pound a week during the last two weeks (which is typical for singletons, although maybe not for twins) then at 39 weeks the twins would have been 6 pounds and 7 1/2, which means DS may have turned out to be the same size as my singleton. FWIW, they weren't born early spontaneously-- we scheduled a c-section because of maternal illness. So they may very well have gone all the way to term.

My boys were born at 37 weeks (c-section due to TTTTS) so the numbers were a little off. R was 4.5 lbs and D was 5.5 lbs. (My OB was happy to let me go all the way until one baby stopped growing. My singleton was my second birth and biggest baby at 6.16 lbs.)

DS1 was 5lb 12oz at 37 weeks
DD was 7lb 12oz at 39 weeks
Twin A was 6 lb 11 oz at 37.5 weeks
Twin B was 6 lb 6 oz

Twin A at 37 weeks was 6-1/2 lbs
Twin B was 4-1/2

Singleton at 40w 5d was 10 lbs even

So mine were *very* discrepant

Singleton born at 38 wks was 6lbs 10oz

Twins born at 36 wks
Baby A 5lbs 3oz
Baby B 4lbs 7oz

So, all about the same for me.

I did take care of a woman while I was pg with my twins who had just had a c-section with two 8lb babies. I was in awe, more than 16lbs of baby in her.

Here's my stats. It still amazes me to think: there was 2 in there!!

DD1 8 lb 2 oz
DD2 6 lb 14 oz (37 weeks though)
DD3 7 lb 8 oz
DS1 9 lb 6 oz (he still is a big boy!)
Twin A 6 lb 11 oz, Twin B 6 lb (38 weeks)

My twins were born at 38 weeks, and were 7.4 each.

Daughter was born at 40 weeks, and was almost 9 lbs.

I am gestationally diabetic, however.

My DS was born just shy of 40 weeks at 8 lbs 6 oz

My MZ girls were born at 37 weeks. Twin A was 6 lbs 2 oz. Twin B was 5 lbs 7 oz.

The better difference was head size. My singleton's head was in the 99th percentile. My twins were in the 50-60th. Such a lovely difference! LOL

Twins at 34w (TTTS): 3lbs 11oz and 5lbs 10oz.
Singleton at 40w: 8lbs 4oz.
Singleton at 41w: 8lbs 8oz.
Singleton at ??w: will let you know in December!

Thanks, ladies! Yes, the smaller head circumference I'm sure will be MUCH nicer, although that's probably somewhat negated by the fact that you have to push out two of them. LOL

I guess I'm just worried that mine will be larger than I expect because its pretty certain I'll end up w/ insulin-dependent GD again. DD1 was 8lbs 2oz at 40 weeks, so not bad...DD2 was just shy of 10lbs at 37 weeks, 4 days. I know its unlikely they'll be that big, but I've learned to never say never, too...

My twins were LGA, just like my other kids.

DS1: 7'7 at 37 weeks.
Twins: 6lbs each at 35 weeks exactly (born 11 and 12 minutes into 35 weeks 0 days). My
DD2: 8'6 at 38 weeks
DD3: 6'6 at 34 weeks.

Twin B needed 24 hours in step down NICU for monitoring related to the birth, but otherwise they were perfect and came home with me.

DD1 born at 39w 5d was 7lb 11 oz
DD2 (twin A) born at 37w 5d was 6lb 5 oz
DS1 (twin B) born at 37w 5d was 6 lb 11 oz

My water broke for the twins, but had a c-section due to positioning. DS spent 5 days in the NICU as he refused to eat. However, he is now the bigger nurser and is quickly distancing himself in weight from his sister.

DS1 41 weeks 9 pounds 8 ounces
Twins 38 weeks 6 pounds 6 ounces (daughter) and 7 pounds 11 ounces (son)

ds1- 8lb 9 oz 41? weeks
dd1- 6lb 11 oz 37? weeks
dd2- 8lb 3 oz (Twin A) 41 weeks
dd3- 6lb 9oz (Twin B) 41 weeks

My twins' weight followed right in line with my singletons.

Twin A: 8 lbs. 7 oz at 38 weeks, 2 days
Twin B: 6 lbs. 4 oz at 38 weeks, 2 days

Ds 3: 10 lbs. 10 oz at 40 weeks, 1 day

I think my Twin A would have easily been close to 10 pounds if he'd gone to 40 weeks. I had a c-section due to positioning, in the absence of labor. Twin B didn't grow much (if at all) during the last six weeks of pregnancy, resulting in a 25% difference between the twins at birth. At age 7, my twins weigh exactly the same (despite the fact that they are quite fraternal in all other ways).
