Charting to Avoid/Fertility Awareness - July 2010 - Page 9

Toolip - I don't have time to check out your chart, but just wanted to let you know that anytime I have to get up for a second (dropped my therm) or lay awake and realize there is no hope of going to sleep/getting a good temp..........my temps are WAY lower than normal.

It's kinda weird - cause you would think it would make it rise (and I am sure it does for some)

AFM - CD6 and is packing up

Toolip, I too think your 3 high temps look good, as long as you have no reason not to trust them.

Temps and Migraines

Has anyone seen any correlation between low BBT's and Migraines?

I've noticed this month that when a migraine is coming, I tend to have lower BBT's that morning. This is especially true if it seemed to be brewing overnight.

Maybe it's just a coincidence though. I looked back and it seemed that it wasn't a pattern before. However, those were specifically hormonal related (start of cycle, mid cycle, end of cycle). These recent migraines are due to unstable weather. The pressure, temps, and humidity level is constantly changing (we're in so-cal).

Blueone, I've never heard of that, but if it's true for you that would be nice to a warning of an impending migraine. (Or would it not be nice? I've never had a migraine. s to you for those.)

Toolip: If I am awake in bed for a while then my temp ishigher, but if I am up and walking around (like taking care of DD in the night) then my temp is lower, even if I get a few hours of sleep after the up time. . . Just screwy, really

Well, what do you think? I agree with this interpretation (the random high temp was a weird day on vacation) but b/c I have so many gaps I'm going to wait for a few more temps.

Lookin' good Beth.

Toolip-my migraines are mostly hormonal (though I do have triggers) and I get them at O and AF. I'll check my temps to see if I have dips-mine are generally low anyhow though.

I have a dental question-thought I'd just ask here if that's ok. Here's my chart-
http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/28fb6b We bd on d17, and with the missing temps I'm not 100% on O date. I'm not quite comfortable moving it to baseline 97.4, since I do have fall back temps, and do have ewcf/cf after O various cycles. Anyhow, so I have to go to the dentist today for an emerg extraction. Xray of said tooth, I'm a big sissy, so need to have at least a minimal of pain meds. The tooth abscessed, so it has to be pulled-it broke too. Last night was a long night, so I don't have a temp for today. I won't take abx after. Am I nuts to freak out at the possibility of pregnancy this early + the dental work? I just don't know what to think. I did start to wonder if the high temps were the start of the infection on my chart? I won't know though until next week with either Af or BFP, or my temps drop dramatically after the tooth is pulled and then raise again with actual O. Shrug. ???

If you didn't O until CD 18, then you would only be 5 DPO at which point the baby may not have even implanted yet. I would be o.k. with getting the dental work done today.

Of course this is coming from the lady who was convinced that pregnancy wasn't an option and so had 2 very full glasses of red wine 10 DPO and got a faint positive 11 DPO.

Hi ladies - I'm joining you at last.

I have an 8-month-old who doesn't eat solids yet, and I just started my 2nd cycle since his birth. The first one was 41 days long (pre-pregnancy, my cycles were 29-30 days) - I'm re-reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility, but I'm kind of daunted by doing FAM at this point: we co-sleep, so I'm not sure if I ever get the needed hours of undisturbed sleep in a row for a solid BBT.

Anyone in the same boat? Do you just use a backup method until your body settles down...?

BBM, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Even if you were pregnant, the baby most likely wouldn't even be implanted, as Annie said.

lalemma, I would suggest you try temping. The worst that can happen is your temps can be undecipherable. But they might not be! A lot of us here have experience with cosleeping and charting. It can be done. I would also suggest the backup method, though, until you know exactly what you're doing. And welcome!

I know, prob worry for nothing. It's just after last time...

Anyhow, I feel soooo much better. Soon as they popped that out it was such a difference. They couldn't save my tooth and the infection was pretty bad. It's amazing how good it feels despite the swelling and little pain from the pull.

BFS-you mentioned either AF or BFP the other day since you didn't know your O date. Am I missing something from your chart-wasn't the bd closest to O protected?

It was. There is unprotected BD on CD 9, 4 days before putative O, which would be the one to cause pregnancy if any I think. But I really don't think I'm pregnant. Expecting AF Thursdayish, but could be as late as Tuesday if I didn't O until CD 16.

BBM-- I had my wisdom teeth out in April, under conscious sedation, so with essentially valium and fentanyl, with a cocktail of antibiotics and painkillers afterwards. I did a TON of research because I knew I was going to be in somewhat of a 2ww when it happened. Basically what it came down to was that the tylenol was the worst thing. The others were a bit iffy, but nothing was outright contraindicted for use during pregnancy, and as others said, when you're so early on, it's not likely to have implanted yet anyways, thus it can't have much of an effect.

Doesn't help the stress though!

Wow - I thought Tylenol was the only thing you COULD have while pregnant??

I clearly have some research to do if/when I have another.....

I think all she was trying to say was that if tylenol was the worst thing, nothing she had was that bad...

I don't know if that makes sense, it's been a long day

BBM: Glad the tooth went well -- I still have 3 wisdom teeth that I *mean to get out, but keep putting off b/c of pregnancies/nursing. WIsh I'd just "bitten" the bullet!

Welcome, lalemma!

AFM:
Am I safe, am I safe? Any reservations about ignoring that random high temp?

my browser keeps logging me out, and then I don't get notifications that new posts have been added.

Anyways, yes, that's basically what I meant about the tylenol, and mine was t3's, so obviously there's a bit more ingredients in there. I mean none of the ingredients were great for pregnancy, but I couldn't find any concrete information as to great risks with any of the medications, anything I did find, was regarding it's affects during labor, not early pregnancy.

Ya'll can try calling the new InfantRisk Center (affiliated with Dr. Thomas Hale, author of Medications and Mother's Milk) for questions about medications during pregnancy &/or breastfeeding: http://www.infantrisk.org/ (806)-352-2519

AF finally started for me about a week ago after an 88-day cycle: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/2f4e15 . Now hopefully things will become more normal!
