Can I use old pee?

So, yesterday morning I took a $ store test and thought I saw the faintest of lines. I want to test again today with a better test, but I need to go out and buy it after I get dd 1 (19 months) up and around. SO.... I peed in cup to get first morning pee. Can I use this in a few hours? Will results still be as valid? How should I store it til then? Feeling ridiculous but appreciating the help! Thanks smart mamas!

I don't know how it works after sitting around, but you don't need first morning urine. I've gotten positives at all different times of the day.

yes you can totally use old pee

but as was already stated you do not necessarily need to use FMU

however, I must warn you some $ store tests give what look like very faint lines which are not actually lines but rather an indentation where the line SHOULD be (but really they look like lines! Ive been fooled several times myself by them), so make sure you are prepared for that possibility.

Oh really... So I didn't need to actually test at 4 am when I just wanted to go back to bed. Good to know. Thanks!

you can use old pee, but if your new pee is sufficiently concentrated, you would probably have better luck with that, vs. trying to use old pee just because it's fmu. fmu is good because your kidneys slow down when you sleep, so your urine is more concentrated. but it is not necessary. and hcg does break down over time, too, so don't wait toooo long. a couple hours wont matter too much. here's what peeonastick says about it:

37. Can I still use pee that's been sitting in a cup for several hours? hCG (pregnancy hormone) does break down and dissipate from urine once it leaves the body. It has a half-life of 24 hours, meaning the total amount will be cut in half for every day it sits out. If you are testing very early when only a small amount of hCG is present to begin with, that half might make a difference (for example, 25 mIU/mL of hCG will be detected with any early pregnancy test. By the time that pee sits out for a day, it has only 12.5 mIU/mL left, and only a very sensitive test may detect it.)

Thanks for the ideas mamas! I ended up getting a two-pack and did a little home experiment- One with fmu that had been saved a few hours and one with fresh. The results were.....

bfp on both!

both had line of the same faintness... Fainter than the control line, but definitely there!
