Night time diapers

I have a situation that is getting to me. My 23 month old hates to be wet. No problem during the day--we change frequently, and he is fine. He wears pockets (mostly FB).

BUT...

At night, this is making us both crazy. He rips off his diaper when it feels wet. this can be at 8pm (right after he goes to sleep), in which case he calls out, and I change him. Or it can be in his sleep at any given time. In which case, I check on him at 9:30, before I go to bed, and I'll put a diaper on him, OR if it's later, then he wakes me up by crying with a wet bed in the middle of the night.

He definitely still is wetting in the middle of the night, so he's not dry in any way. He is interested in the potty during the day, but has never sat down and actually gone in the potty.

I change sheets several nights a week with our current system. I'm wondering if there is a better diaper out there, where he wouldn't feel wet, or perhaps one that he can't get off? We've tried sposies, as well. Same thing.

Help!

I don't know about not being able to get the diaper off, but I think the micro suede in the Bum Genius leaves them feeling drier. I would borrow one from a friend or try to find one used if you don't want to buy new but want to try it out. I converted all of mine to snaps and I think snaps are harder to get off.

If you can find a diaper that he feels dry in I would try a little jumper or onsie at night. (or can he get snaps in the crotch undone?). That sounds so frustrating! Hope you figure something out soon!

Do your pockets not have a fleece inner? I would try putting a cover on him that he can't easily get off (we tie our LO's drawstrings in double knots because he likes to play with them).

We use Happy Hempys with the fleece inner, so he doesn't feel the wet or else he won't sleep and he'll have a rash by morning. And we put a Babyology wool soaker over it. He would really have to work to get that cover off on his own, although he wouldn't have any problem getting the dipe off (it's Aplix).

Do your dipes have snaps or Aplix? Snaps are usually harder for a LO to undo. I also know there are some WAHM's who will make their dipes with the snaps in the back so that the babe can't open it.

This may not even come close to working, but the one thought I had, in addition to what others suggested for other materials, what if you take a stab at seeing if he'll pee in the potty before getting dressed for bed? Or reduce liquid consumption after a certain time? Maybe a little less pee will help be less wet.
