Work of Art on Bravo? - Page 2

I can see how it might be awkward to take part in a crit when this is someone you are competing with in a reality show. I think they are uncomfortable with the sort of drama that could create.

I think the show could be better if they didn't drop a huge theme on the artist and expect them to be able to do that. I liked the book jacket thing, the portraits and I liked the outdoor sculpture thing but "Make something about order and chaos" is ridiculous. It really annoyed me.

I am also not really liking how they treat the artists. They acted like Abdi was completely ridiculous for making what he did but I cannot imagine being expected to create something on that sort of scale with so little time. I think this is having a negative impact on some of the artists. Look at the difference between the quality in the beginning and now.

Abdi's portrait of Ryan was just amazing but now he seems lost.

I agree that showing a class would probably be better than this.

I loved Abdi's work this week. It was stunning.

I'm curious what others thought of the finale?

I am glad Abdi won. I liked Peregrine's show as well as Abdi's.

I didn't think the vomiting really went well with the rest of the show. I didn't really like what Mile's did. I liked the black hole looking thing but not really the other pixelations.

I liked that Abdi won, too. I liked him the whole time. But I wish that other woman, was her name Nicole? made it to the finals instead of Miles. She would have done WAY more interesting stuff. She got to stick around but didn't get enough love, IMO. She was awesome. Mile's show stuff really was still in progress, I agree.

I love how that one judge just loooooooves Miles. Sheesh. Miles went after death! yay! How amazing! Abdi showed death-- how overdramatic and self-indulgent!

I'm really glad Abdi won too, and not just because I picked him early on. I thought he really did turn out the best show, although I also agree that Peregrine did well. Their shows did a lot to redeem the whole season, I thought.

Miles, OTOH ....... I almost wonder if his show would have been somewhat more successful if he'd reversed it, kwim? Like instead of showing the man who died at the start and pixelating outward, if he had started with the large pixelated images and let viewers discover what it was about as they moved further in. Though it still would have needed to be more self-explanatory in some way than it was.

I totally think it would have been so much better! Yeah, he was still stuck in HIS thought process without thinking about the experience for his audience. He still needed to communicate what happened to the man in some clearer way, if it was going to be the key to it all... the black hole was cool but just didn't say death that clearly...
