My Goal:

2/20 No Spend Days
I did this last year for a few months, maybe even for a bit earlier this year, but I seriously have fallen off the wagon!! We've had lots of necessary spends like new babies, birthdays, much needed work clothes for both dh and myself but my frivolous spending has gotten out of hand. I need to make myself accountable again.

a. Who you are I'm Aileen, married to dh and we both work full time, one daughter and 3 grandbabies who are 5 years old, 16 months old and 3 months old. Also five stepchildren, the two youngest who stay with us part time, 12 years old and 17years old, one cat and some fish.

b. Where you are going (your financial goals) I've got a very good EF going which I'm planning to stretch into a 3-6 month living expense account. Our car will be paid off in 9 months but I want to try and make that sooner (again). One credit card with a few hundred on it; I'd like to get it down pretty low and use it only when necessary.

c. How you plan to get there I way over spend at the grocery store and that has got to stop! We eat pretty well for the most part as far as using whole foods and rarely anything processed but I tend to reach for the higher end items consistently when I should only be doing that as a treat now and then. Also have been spending too much at department stores. I have everything I need, I don't need to buy anything for awhile. I want to sock away what I save from that and the grocery bill each month to grow my savings in addition to what I already have direct deposited.

No spend day
Budgeted spend
Unplanned spend

4. installed the closet organizer system in the master closet. We've had that organizer sitting in the utility room for 2yrs now, so glad it's finally done
5. Went food shopping. Picked up beach chairs and umbrella for our beach vaca next month, overspent at WM, stopped in JoAnn Fabrics for elastic thread for DD1's dresses and overspent by a little there. *sigh* I have got to stay OUT of the stores.

Hi everyone! This is my second month here, having dropped out last month. We didn't majorly blow our budget, just lost track because of spending while sick. Probably spend about $50 more than budgetted for food, but then didn't spend all alotted for in the personal and recreation budgets.
I think I'll do it a little differently this month...
So, I am
a. a SAHM to two sweethearts, my 3 yo ds and 1 yo dd. I knit and craft, and am seriously thinking about getting certified as a doula, begining in the next month or two.
b. trying to be as frugal as possible with our restricting budget. We are trying to save to buy a home with land, while I will need to fork out some money for my certification.
c. trying to make as much as I can from scratch, while doing it more cheaply than I have in the past. I will save all receipts so I know how I am doing and stay accountable. I also hope to trade for things that I need, such as gifts, clothing for my kids, and books for my cert.

My key:

- no spend
- budgeted spending
- unbudgeted spending, but something very cheap that will be useful
- unbudgeted spending
- exercise!
- came across something that will save us money, yay!

6. although *I* am b/c we had to have the HVAC guy out this morning. Our A/C wasn't keeping up w/ the heat wave and we needed some freon and a recharge, $120 later, *sigh*, not budgeted but definitely necessary. It also led to b/c we think our thermostat isn't working right, so we're installing the new one we've had kicking around for 6 months.
