poop issues

my dd is 4 months old and has had belly issues from the get-go. she is breastfed and I am dairy, soy and egg free due to her sensitivites

she is starting to show this pattern of pooping every 4-7 days and is so uncomfortable while we are on board for the next poop.

when she does poop it is amazing- no diaper can hold it and usually once she starts we take off the diaper and she fills about 3-4 cloth diapers full of soft poop- gross!

my pediatrician says that breastfed babies can go like this, but it just seems she is uncomfortable for a day or so before she poops- she grunts, farts alot and rolls up her legs..

any advice/similar stories will ease me!

Hee hee. We didn't have the exact same issue but your post brought back some vivid memories for me!

With dd1 we ended up doing pear juice; basically any "p" fruit or vegie for pooping but she was older. Not sure that you could do pear juice (it's the most gentle) at that age.

With dd2, it was like her anus wasn't big enough. We'd lay her on the changing table, take her diaper off, put a cloth under her and spread her anus apart a little. She'd toot and toot and toot and often poop and poop.

My kids have all had tummy issues and one of them, I can't remember which, would poop when you'd pull their legs up to their belly to clean their butt during a diaper change (I'm guessing dd2 since she had that anus issue).

DS2 was going a couple days between poops until I went off the dairy. SO, if you're already off it I have no suggestion and his response is actually the opposite of a typically dairy intolerance. He still had the nasty diarrhea but only every couple of days. Now he's back to a couple times a day.

What about gripe water? That actually helped ds2 poop more frequently before I went off dairy. (fyi-I only use the Baby's Bliss brand as the Colic-Ease almost sent ds1 to the ER from screaming pain) Just a thought.
