Odd Pregnancy Happenings after H1N1 vaccine?

Edited to add: this is not an anti-vax campaign, just curious and thinking I would have had a less miserable 3rd trimester with fewer expensive tests if someone could say "Hey did you have that vaccine? Some women who did experienced this same thing ..."

I'm 5 weeks PP and my midwife was mentioning today, she and other midwives are seeing "odd" scatterings of symptoms in women who had the H1N1 vaccine.

Placenta abnormalities are a biggie, she says. Mine was "super healthy" but they did find it strange that it was perfectly smooth.

Another is bleeding issues. One mom who had her shot and her baby within a few days of when I did, had some bleeding after birth and is now in the hospital with blood clots in here legs and lungs, that seem to have come from nowhere.

I've never stopped bleeding PP, though I'm not being overly active and otherwise feel fine.

Another is nausea returning in the 3rd trimester. Everyone was SO puzzled when this happened with me (it was worse 3rd trimester than first, with much more vomiting - homeopathic Bryonia did the trick).

Anyone else have something crop up that made your caregivers scratch their heads?

I had actual H1N1 case of moderate severity. High respiratory rates, my heart rate into the 160s an 170s straight for a day and a half until the tamiflu kicked in.

One of my twins probably died because of it (early 2nd trimester.) My surviving baby was born about 2 months ago with a suspected placental abruption in process (30-45 minute labor, severe pain, baby panicked 5 minutes before birth and was born with initial apgar 3, placenta followed baby very quickly with a big clot after), and she was diagnosed with pneumonia or pneumitis. Either way, that was 10 days in NICU, 1 on a respirator, 1 day going down on the oxygen and 10 days of IV antibiotics for her lung stuff. We're all doing fine now, but this was an absolutely bizarre situation.

Very very mild post partum bleeding over here, but I had active management of 3rd stage (at my request) although the placenta came before we could do the shot of pit!

My verdict? This virus is very bad news.

So sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you and LO are doing well now.

Did you have the vaccine and get the virus?

I should add I'm glad I got the vaccine - I was working on a construction site that didn't have running water, with lots of people sharing port-a-potties, and I have some respiratory problems normally. I've never had the flu or the flu shot, so it made sense to me to get both flu shots during this pregnancy.

And before I had the vaccine, I was catching a new cold every week - but not a single one afterward.

It's hard to speculate about cause and effect, but it's always helpful to exchange information.

I was not able to get the vaccine. I literally came down with H1N1 the same day that I was supposed to be getting my flu shot.

had the vaccine at 11.5 weeks.

baby girl, at home, 55mins 1st stage, 6mins 2nd, 20mins 3rd. drug free. no bleeding issues, 200ml lost at birth, lochia rubra subsided very quickly, otherwise all normal.

true knot 10cm from navel. slight (2-3cm) velamentous, battledore (marginal) insertion, heart-shaped placenta. Otherwise very healthy looking.

I'm not sure which of those things could occur after 11 weeks? Apart from the knot of course...

This happened to me as well. I got the shot and then in the 3rd trimester I started to get high blood pressure. When I delivered my placenta it was calcified to my uterus, making it hard for blood to get to the baby, thus the high blood pressure. I was just released from the hospital for blood clots in my leg and both lungs. Since then I have been doing research and stumbled upon this post. Do you have anymore info about other women or any websites?
