so i microwave my vegetables...

i zap my frozen veggies in for no longer than 3 mins...am i killing the nutrients or modifying it this way? i just put it in a bowl and pop it in the microwave.

I think steaming is prob the best method , but as long as you don't cook them too long you should be fine. I think fresh is suppose to be better though?

Frozen veggies can actually be better than fresh because they're often flash-frozen right when they're picked. As veggies get older, they lose nutrients.

Anyway, I'm not a fan of microwaving food in general, but that's just me.

I microwave also, i just put a TINY bit of water and cover and microwave for as short as possible

At least you're eating veggies....that's way better than plenty of families! I microwave frozen veggies too.

I have heard (dont know how true) but if you COVER them in water and cook them for a long time, THEN you zap all nutrients, but if you just put a little water and cook for a short time, it is fine, because it is just steaming them and not boiling them...

maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in lol

I am bad about buying the steamfresh veggies when they are $1 a bag...i LOVE the asparagus blend...

Depends on the nutrient but overall, microwaving is similar to steaming (maybe slightly worse), better than grilling and WAY better than boiling for micronutrient preservation.

YAY its not horrible lol i hate to dirt a pan and a steamer and cooking it like forever b/c the vegs are frozen the microwave just rocks lol
