"Managed Labor"

Thread Starter
I am just venting here...

I saw my MW yesterday--we are working with a large hospital--and while they have been supportive of vba2c I can't stand the lingo!

"When you arrive at the hospital in labor we will be here to 'manage' your labor. We will monitor you for changes and progress and if things are not progressing we will talk about different options."

ARggggghhhhh...why can't they just stand by and support me and let my labor progress on its own?? I know many of you will say this is the best reason for HB, but we are unable to do that here in Vermont as the MW regulations do not allow vba2c. I am just frustrated. This is my birth, my body, my baby, but sometimes I feel like I have so little power. I am just going to stay home for as long as possible.
Thanks for listening.

It's sad that we aren't allowed to just "labor", I hope you are able to labor comfortably at home until it's "time" to go to the hospital.

Yep, mis-managed labor seems to be the standard of care now. You will probably have to stay home as long as possible.
