I am from the south originally, but lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 20 years, where the summers were usually pretty cool (September/October could be hot though), so anything over 80 feels hot to me. Also, it seems like the summer sun is hotter here than other places I've lived.
I live in Redmond, and it's been in the upper 80s here. We don't have A/C and live on the 2nd floor, and I think it gets into the 90s inside in the later afternoon. But yeah, I'm definitely a heat wimp. And a cold wimp for that matter. Here, too, it will be like in the 50s and low 60s in June until one day, wham the high is 86, so it's kind of a shock.
I use a spray bottle on dd to keep her cool -- just a regular plant sprayer set on mist. But our humidity is usually around 50% or less in the summer so it evaporates pretty fast.
that's a cute hat, but isn't it hot?
Oh, and yes, it was nice to sleep in yesterday, but then dd was up until nearly 11 last night! I usually stay up after she goes to be to read to ds, but could only do so for a short time. Poor dh, he is an early riser (wakes at dawn, which is around 5 now), and I never spend time with him after the kids are in bed. Sigh.
