Kidney area pain? Uva Ursi?

I had a little UTI just with discomfort during peeing. It's only been a couple of days and I started drinking tons of water and cranberry juice. I've had this soooo many times over the years. But now today, I thought it was going away and about gone and I have a dull throbbing pain in my right back area by my kidney. I had a kidney infection years ago and the symptoms were much different. Plus no pain during urination almost at all, no fever, no anything else. I don't know if I just pulled something-my tailbone hurts and I keep trying to stretch my back to help it. I am taking a second Emergen-C packet and drinking more before I go to bed.

No family docs will take my insurance that I can find yet here and my doc just moved out of state. I am using an out of state midwife due to the birth climate here and so there's no script writing from that area. There's no urgent care, it's a weekend, and so the chance of finding a doc is slim to none. It really hurts, though.

Is there anything else I can take for this? Is marshmallow safe during pregnancy? What dosages? Any idea how to handle the conversation if I do go to the ER for abx? Like how to explain no OB around here and such? (It's a midwife illegal state)

What's the recommended Uva Ursi dosage? I have 500 mg capsules and it says 2 capsules 1-3 times a day but I read it's oxytonic, so not to take too much?

I know my opinion doesn't count for much and you hate the "birth climate" around here..but Chad and I see Dr Tan at Weber when we're ill, have for years. Dr Atwood doesn't accept any more patients so only the kids see him. But Dr Tan is great...or you can request to see Dr Pageant or Sandy Poland (a very legal midwife last I checked ) as a one time patient since your midwife is farther away. I have no idea if weber is open on Monday or not though.

And they'll take your insurance. maybe worth a shot. Better than the ER docs imo...especially if you should encounter Dr Rodriguez.

I've heard that uva ursi may not be compatiable with pregnancy.

Hope you feel better.

The problem is that it's the weekend. I've called all the doc offices since Friday afternoon and nobody was in or taking anybody so I will have to wait until tuesday to call and find out. I wish there was an urgent care center around here. The last ER doc we got was hysterically bad. I forget the name of the decent one there...

Allkids is putting us down for Lawrenceville county health department, too, as our general until we find someone. Better than the one over an hour away they appointed us last time!

im having the same problem, except that im having this kidney pain for more than a week now.... i am drinking parsley tea (1 teaspoon parsley in cup of hot water) and chamomille.....and ALOT of water, ive read it helps, really trying to avoid antibiotics here. but you should search if those are ok during pregnancy...good luck!

Yeah...the insurance tried to change Chad and me to someone in Flora...like that's going to happen. I've seen Dr Tan for years! I just found out Weber is closed for the holiday...my MIL is asking me to keep a baby in until Tuesday so she can have a long time off. Well I'll try. LOL. There are quite a few abx that are safe in prg...I've had UTIs and I can only imagine how horrible a kidney infection would feel.

Hope you feel better.

Thanks everyone! Turns out it's not my kidneys. I seriously messed up my back. I think I have better luck getting in a chiropractor next week anyway, so that's good. The pain started radiating around and down my back and my dh was poking at it and it's where my former back injury was. So I'm assuming I have a swollen disc or something. It's making grating noises when I walk sometimes which almost makes me vomit thinking about why that noise is made. I hate that noise. I must have done this when I was out pulling weeds for over two hours and then blueberry picking all hunched over.

Ekatherina-I read that chamomile tea should not be drank in over 1-2 cups a day but that parsley tea will help. Nettles tea will, too, if you have any.

Hope you feel better. Are you seeing Pat for your back? I'm going to start trying to see him regular after baby comes...this pregnancy is really aggravating an older hip/tailbone injury. (I fell hard on some ice in college)

Good seeing you last night...you look great.

The kids had fun. I was very crampy...this morning nothing. Oh well...soon, soon...that's all I'm thinking about!

I'm going to the one by Rural King. Pat got way too expensive for us when we took Ari there. I can't afford 4+ times a week at $20 a pop and the other chiro will work with us better. None of them are taking our insurance, though, unfortunately. Oh well. I still do have a slight bladder infection. Hopefully it goes away soon!

Thanks for the clothes last night, and good luck with baby soon!
