Two months, how is everyone and babes doing?

My little one had her 2 month birthday today! Yes, I am lame and celebrate the months too, lol.

So, how is everyone else doing?

I'm noticing BabyO is sleeping less and has started to coo a bit (love it!). She looks me in the eye and seems to enjoy it so much when I talk to her. No laughs yet, but a bunch of definite smiles.

We are well! Asa is 9 weeks old now. He started smiling a couple of weeks ago and now laughs out loud and makes cooing sounds. We love it! He is an avid eater, despite his initial poor weight gain - I weighed him today on the scale at the YMCA (me plus him then me minus him) and he is 15 1/2 pounds!!! He has nearly doubled his birth weight already. I was wondering why I was having trouble with his infant car seat, now I know - it's also why he's about into 6-month size clothes. A little butterball he is!

I still have 4 weeks left of maternity leave, and will be starting a new job when I return. It will allow me to work a true 40 hours a week (4 long days) instead of "full-time" which meant 45-50 hours and 5 days a week at my old job. I am excited about that, but not about returning to work in general. I have been having a lovely babymoon with not only the baby but the rest of my family as well. We just returned from a 10-day camping trip and will be heading out for a 6-day camping trip next week. Good times.

Haven't been on here much since Asa arrived, so will be interested in seeing how everyone else is doing.

We are going well too. Juliet is 6.5 weeks and is an absolute delight. She is a very happy, easy-going baby. DH only went back to work on Monday so we have had a lovely babymoon just being together, going out for lunch, having afternoon naps together etc.

I have had a few breastfeeding problems - damaged nipples, thrush, mastitis, ?dematitis and now just sore nipples. I'm hoping it is just her attachment and it will improve as she gets bigger. I'm looking forward to consistently painless breastfeeding. Fortunately nothing has affected my supply and she is gaining weight like ou wouldn't believe. One week she put on 400g! She was just under 5kg when we weighed her on Wednesday and is starting to outgrow some of her clothes.

I feel like I have recovered pretty well also. I have taken it very easy over the last 6 weeks but am going to start exercising again this week. I still feel my stomach muscles pulling when I walk for too long/too fast though so it will be fairly gentle to start with.

We're doing well! Most of our problems have been sleep-related, but only the first two weeks were particularly bad. Elliott really only likes sleeping with or on me and we haven't gotten a proper bed set up for co-sleeping, so I'm camped out on the floor with him every night on unzipped firm couch cushions (it's an Ikea guest mattress for a sleeper sofa, but on the floor). Given that I generally want to reassemble my couch for use during the day, this means that we haven't established anything functional for naps--once in a great while he'll sleep in the stroller, but mostly he just naps on me.

Our other big challenge is that Elliott often only wants me (or my boobs). My husband wants to spend more time with him and he's actually really good with him, but Elliott will just scream for me. I therefore end up physically attached to the kid for 90% of his waking hours, which makes it hard for me to ever relax or get work done, and my husband ends up with his feelings hurt and wishing he could do more.

Other than that, stuff's good. Elliott will occasionally sleep for a solid 5-6 hour stretch at night (not every night, though). He's generally a very happy baby as long as I'm holding him. He's healthy and growing--he was just shy of 11 lbs at his 4 week visit--and our midwife was shocked that he was trying (and nearly succeeding) to roll over when we saw her in the park last night.

I typed this long post out yesterday and somehow it's not here, so I'll do it again I guess...


Lilah is 14 weeks old now, she's up to 11lbs (or close to) which is GREAT for us both, but she's short (only 20in) so she looks like a chunky little turkey for sure! I've been exclusively pumping for 14 weeks, but she's trying harder to latch on and nurse FINALLY! I took her to a pediatric dystagia specialist last week because she chokes while eating (her bottle of breast milk and even some when nursing) so we need to figure out what's going on inside and will have a modified barium swallow on Tuesday and get the results on wednesday. Yesterday was the 1st day she nursed all day with a bottle of BM in the morning and one before bed, but did fine during the day with nursing only. She sleeps better thru out the day when she has bottles though, that's for sure!! I'm hoping to go to breast feeding ONLy soon, fingers x'd. I do still have well over 350 ounces frozen though LOL but I can't donate it because I was on antibiotics, and narcotics, and fenugreek, and what ever else I've taken....too bad, I'd LOVE to donate it.

I'm still trying to get past PPD/PTSD but doing better it seems, each day is a little easier. and DH has been offered a job in GA so it looks like we're moving. He's hoping for one in NC to come thru and another out of KY so either way were moving to GA, the beach in NC, or KY, not staying where we are. I think we all need a change too.

TJ was 8 lbs at birth and at his 2 month appt he was 15 lbs 7 oz -- thats gotta be some sort of record!

We're doing pretty well her at 7 weeks. Maybe is smiling and starting to coo and laugh now, so that's a lot of fun DS is pushing boundaries and is still in the baby's face all. the. time, but we're working on it. I feel fantastic, heading in for the Mirena at the end of the month.

Maybe sleeps really well at night (in bed with us) so I'm pretty well rested and don't need to nap during the day. I took on a bit more at work and am keeping busy on the computer while she nurses. I have a mother's helper starting tomorrow to keep DS busy and playing while I work, and I start piano lessons back up tomorrow for a couple kids as well. Most of my students are going away for the summer so that helps me ease back into a full teaching load (for me, 8 students) for the fall.

She's starting to roll over now, she has trouble getting her head over though.
She's closing in on 10 lbs from her 8lb birth weight, I think...my midwife is coming over for our final check () on Thursday so I'll find out then. Her next dr appointment is July 16.

We're in love with her, she's a wonderfully easy going baby as long as you never put her down. She will do 10-15 minute stretches on the floor or in the swing, just enough for me to get DS and DD1 some lunch or a snack or something, but mostly she wants to be held. It's cool, she's the last one, I'm learning to be okay with that, even if it means my butt is on the couch more than I would like right now (she hates the wrap unless I am walking at a brisk pace, which I can't do while cleaning the kitchen, hah).

We are doing really well over here too.
It seems weird to have a "newborn" (she's 7wks) because we haven't suffered any of the typical stresses that come with a newborn.
I splurged on a nice Combi stroller just after she was born and I am thrilled with it. Worth every penny. She loves to sleep in it so it's great that I can put her down, then put her in the porch so the boys don't wake up. Then I can wheel her out to the garden or down to the barn without disturbing her. This seems important as she spends most of her day sleeping still!
She also sleeps well overnight, she fell into her own routine of falling asleep between 9-10pm and not waking until 4-5am, quick feed then fall back asleep until 9am.

The boys absolutely ADORE her and we have yet to see any signs of jealousy or regression from them. I expect we will have our troubles eventually but so far it has just been so smooth.
I think the biggest adjustment is my timing - I have to remember to tack on an extra 15min to any trip away from home when I stop to feed her.
She loves cuddling with DH and a surefire way to put them both to sleep is to let DH lay with her on his chest. They both pass out in 5 minutes

She's smiling a lot now and trying to talk, she has a very expressive face and loves when the boys talk and read to her. They have been incredibly helpful too, they will push her around in the stroller or help with her soother in the car or sing to her or get diapering supplies, it's wonderful to see all the love

Anyhoo, had our 6wk appointment last week and she was 9lb12oz up from 7lb 11oz at birth. She's also grown an inch and her head by half an inch.

We're doing great!
She's so easy going that it's made life so much easier to transition to 3 at this point in our lives (we had just gotten to the big boy stage with both boys)...so going back to babyhood scared me but she's made my life easy. She'll sleep 4-7 hour stretches at night...goes to bed around 11 and wakes between 4 and 6...boys get up at 8 and she stays in bed sleeping till 10 ...so I get breakfast with them..

She is up to 11lbs 6oz now at 5 weeks...and we are into 3mo clothes it's NUTS! She is a mad eater, and has done so well with a bottle so much that I've gotten to have a girls night out and then a date night ALONE with dh (grandma took everyone!!) ...I feel so spoiled this last week!

I'm struggling with my back but learning to set limits...but it's going to get rougher as she just gets bigger!

Reuben is great. He's almost 10 weeks now. He was 7lbs3oz at birth and somewhere between 13 and 14 now I'd say. He's over 24 inches long. He rolled over Thursday which surprised me. He's so cheerful. Smiling and laughing all the time Oh and he slept 10pm til 5am last night also!

Zoey is 8 weeks and thriving still. She has slowed a bit in her growth but she seems to go slow then fast and still on the 50% for height and weight. I am however on DOM now as it helps me feel more secure, I can pump a bit this way and feel them full enough to not get very worried on the slow weeks. I still want to get a baby scale though.

She is such a sweety baby. Except for the wonder week she hit and drove DH and I about crazy up all night a few times. Over all though I couldn't have asked for a better baby match for me. Funny though, I used to be a night owl, as in all my life and only since a few days before she was born did I start getting up before 9-10am and going to bed before 1am. Every baby changes us I swear it!

So great to hear about the other littles in the DDC doing well, specially the ones who had a less then easy start!

Ethan will be 7 weeks tomorrow! I feel like the time is just flying! At 6 weeks old, he was over 14lbs. He was 9lb 10oz at birth. The kid doesn't stop. Breastfeeding is going great! I soo enjoy it this time. struggled with my daughter. Sleeps long 5-6 hour stretches at night. Very easy going and even entertains himself in the morning so that I can shower! yay! Very easy going. I have dipped back into work but only working 2-4 hrs at a time and the kids are home with daddy when I do work. im still healing "down there". My pelvic floor is weak and im just not normal yet. looking forward to being normal, if that happens.

So glad to hear from all you mamas! Little mis G is doing great! She will be 2 months on the 7th. I have not weighed her but if I had to guess I'd say she's about 15 pounds or so. Nursing is going great. I'm officially EBF! I am more comfortable nursing in public now which made me really anxious. She smiles once in a while and coo's only once in a blue moon. I can't wait to see and hear more of that. I noticed she doesn't like to make eye contact. If I move to where she is looking she will look away right away. Maybe in a few weeks she will be better with that? Anyway, she sleeps great! The whole night! She sleeps better than my 2 yr old! Speaking of my 2 yr old he's great with his little sister. He helps me with her and gives her kisses all the time. I think he is adjusting nicely.

Hi all. Good to hear that everyone's lo's are doing so well

Liam had his 2-mo b-day & appointment today. He's doing well, although we're still working through some things. He's really tiny compared to the rest of your kids - weighed in at 9 lb 11 oz today. He was 7-1 at birth. He's only in the 10%, but the doctor isn't concerned & says he's right on track. So, my worries about producing enough milk I guess are unwarranted. He's also 22" long & has a 15" head.

As for development & sleep, Liam is smiling and coo'ing, which is great. His head strength is great and he can almost hold it up on his own for an extended amount of time. I guess he's not tracking things yet, but loves to stare at objects. As for sleep, he's actually moved into his own room by chance and sleeps for 2-3 hour shifts. I usually bring him in with my early in the morning though. Daytime napping is still something we're working on, but it's getting better. Right now I'm trying to work on an earlier bedtime and at least 3-hours between feedings. I have to go back to work in a month and would like to get him on a bit of a schedule before he has to start daycare. I'm still going to let him feed on demand, I'm just hoping that his feedings would be about 3 hours apart instead of 1.5 to 2 hours.

So, I can't really complain. Things are great. Can't wait to hear more updates. And, if you have any suggestions on earlier bedtimes (now he goes down around 9:30 or 10), daytime napping or feeding, I'm all ears!

Beth, I totally believe they sleep better at this age/stage if they are wrapped or swaddled up tight. Lilah sleeps like a DREAM when she's wrapped up. I actually ordered several Woombie's from thewoombie.com just for this purpose. When I got them and started putting her in them at night (only at night for her, but she sleeps good during the day) she started sleeping 9+ hours a night. I put her down at 10p last night and she's still sleeping at 7:30a right now. I'll probably have to wake her up to take her to the dr this morning at 8:30.

No advice for sleeping longer though, my first 3 all slept thru the night by 6-8 weeks and then B came along and didn't STTN until 10 months old. We're lucky and thankful that Lilah is doing so well.

Maybe is about the same. 30th percentile for weight, 98th percentile for height.
My ds was the same way, they're both long and skinny.

I love hearing about all these healthy , happy babies!!

I have to admit that we're struggling over here a bit more, but overall things are good. DD is 12 weeks old now... At 2.5 months, DD weighed 9 lbs 7 oz, which I think is the smallest in here so far. But that's not surprising given her feeding issues and the fact that we just grow 'em small. She rolled over 4 times at about 5 weeks (shocking!) but those were clearly flukes because there's no way she could figure it out now at almost 3 months. She smiles and coos occasionally but is very alert, tons of solid eye contact, and a happy baby overall with a fierce dramatic streak.

The feeding issues continue to challenge us, but we're trudging along with her therapy in hopes of seeing some improvement with her tongue movement and sucking strength soon. I'm back at work now, so that makes it extra tricky; but I'm trying to stay positive that we can still work it out.

We've been swaddling him since day one, although I should do it more during the day. We have it all -- blanket, woombie, sleep sack & swaddle. He's really fighting the swaddle now. He'll fall asleep great when swaddled, but then will fight to get out all night. The struggle to get out seems to keep him up, but if I don't swaddle him he stays awake with his flailing. Last night I swaddled him with one arm out. That seemed to help (at least until 6 am, but he doesn't sleep much past that anyway unless he's nursing in bed). Maybe I'll try the woombie again. Thanks for the advice!!

congratulations everyone, glad to hear all is well.

my little one, Maddex, is up to 11lbs 10oz at his 6 week visit - he was 8lbs 15oz (after a poop) at birth.

he has been smilling forever, no lies, he did a social smile at 5 days, and I didn't want to believe it but my skeptical sister in-law even saw it and was totally amazed. He coo's and smiles all day long. Such a happy baby, we are so blessed.

He sleeps through out the night, no cries, just a wiggle or grunt and I roll over to feed him. During the day he just sleeps on an off at his own will. It has only been recently that he will need a little assistance to go to sleep, like a quick little rock or some pats on the back.

My husband and I have been busy building a house, and enjoying visits with family and friends. We keep really busy and glad to have all my energy and mobility back. I have even been shooting weddings with my husband, and shot 3 in a row last weekend, with the baby strapped to my front in a woven wrap. He loved it and slept all day long. People kept remarking what a great baby he was to just sleep and let me work.

I love him, and love life as a mother. I am looking forward to a full year off to just enjoy every moment of motherhood.

We are doing great! It has been 7 weeks. I am so thankful for how wonderful all of this has been. This was such a wanted baby, but my pregnancy was miserable. I was really hoping that things would get easier once our baby girl was out, and they did. My recovery was pretty uneventful... the first few days were rough and I couldn't get out of bed, but after that I healed up pretty normally.

DW is a teacher, so she has been off work since Grace was born and does not have to go back for another month. That has been WONDERFUL and I know that having her around is a big factor in my healthy recovery. She lets me sleep in in the mornings for an extra few hours after the baby is up for the day and she takes her for walks in the Moby when she is wanting to be held a lot. This really helped in the beginning since it hurt so much for me to stand and I wasn't able to walk with Grace.

Grace is very easygoing. She loves being out of the house and did great on our train trip to Michigan for my BIL's wedding. (It was a 22 hour trip!) She is smiling now and cooing and it is totally irresistable! We was 8 lbs 0 oz at birth and was up to 11 lbs 4 oz at her doctor appointment at 6 weeks. Breastfeeding is going great! She is sleeping a 5 hour stretch most nights and then 2 hour stretches after that and giving me a pretty good night's sleep... (Especially since I get that extra sleep-in time most days.) She wakes up only to nurse and then goes right back to sleep. Side-lying nursing during the night just doesn't work very well for us, and we tried out co-sleeping, but it seems everyone sleeps better, even her, when she sleeps by herself. So she sleeps right next to me in her pack and play.

I'm so surprised at how easily everything has been... We have really been spoiled. I love being a mama!
