Pertussis

A previous post got me thinking...could we be in a pertussis cycle this year? We do not vax and this is the one illness I fear the most.
Our household has gone through Measles and Mumps but no one has had pertussis. I did have pertussis in 07' while pregnant with my son until he was a month old. I feel exclusively bfing protected him. I just cant imagine a small child going through something so horrible.
I'm concerned because I have two 5 month olds - that I'm not exclusively bfing due to supply issues so we supplement. As a result I feel the babies (being so young and not vaxed) are in a position to catch some of these illnesses too soon.
This makes me wonder since I actually had pertussis 3 years ago - am I passing some immunity through the breastfeeding to my babies? I read somewhere having had the illness protects you from reoccurence for a decade or so. Re: immunity and bfing if these antibodies are passed through breastmilk - how long does the protection last once you wean? or is it immediate?
Any thoughts on this???

Since this is about an illness rather than vaccine I'm moving to H&H.

I would go over to beyondvaccination dot com and read on the altitude treatment. This site is a blog put together by Hilary Butler. They have some awesome info over there.

I don't know whether pertussis is more prevalent this cycle than normal, but the pro-vax hype certainly is. Here is a really well written piece addressing some of the issues your post brings up.
