Baby Updates?

Even though I am still patiently (or not so patiently) waiting at 41 weeks for my former June baby I'd still love to hear how everyone is doing with their new little ones! It has been 4.5 years since I've had a babe in the house so it is nice to hear how the first few weeks (or month is some cases) has gone! Hoping to join you all soon!

We're starting to get the hang of things here! Georgia was one of the first in this DDC to get here, almost 3 weeks early on May 20. She is a great eater- over 9 pounds now from a 6.7 birth and 5.13 take home weight. Yay breastfeeding! She is a great sleeper, and is already smiling and trying to use her precious little voice.
It's a bit hard to get her comfy at times because of her casts (for clubfoot), especially while nursing, but we're figuring things out. She's super crabby after the castings. She's had 6 so far, the first one at 8 days old, and her surgery is scheduled for next week on her achilles tendons.
Here's a link to some pics: http://www5.snapfish.com/snapfish/th...NAME=snapfish/
(somebody tell me if the link works?)
There is a video in there of her rolling over at 5 weeks.

Noah's mommy- I love the name Stella Jane!! Two of my favorites together. I hope you meet your babe soon.

Can we get some more baby picture links posted? I want to see everybody's beautiful babies!

Buzzer Beater-I couldn't get the link to work...I'd love to see pics of all these babies! Maybe that will coax Miss Stella out! I'm feeling a bit desperate at this point!

Baby Lachlan is doing really great. Currently (knowck on wood), he is a great sleeper. I am starting to fall into the Baby Blues and am looking into ways to try to get myself to snap out of it. I had hoped to encapsulate my placenta, but it got left in the hot car overnight since we had to take it to the hospital after the birth. Bummer on that. My Mom will be leaving tomorrow, so that is when the true test of my sanity will begin. Hubby is back at work on Monday. Yikes.

My surro son is doing well. Total cutie (I have to say that, right?). He looks a lot like my daughter, just a boy version, lol. Here's a pic: http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w...41227_3132.jpg He was a month old on the 1st. Crazy!!

I hope your little one comes out soon!

My sweet Lyla is doing great! She was 2 weeks old yesterday and is the most chill baby ever! She already has her days and nights figured out, is a fabulous little nurser and never cries. She's tolerates her 2 big brothers and big sister holding her and fighting over her all the time. I don't know if the link will work, but my little sis is a photographer and came from Texas when lyla was a couple days old and got some great shots ( my second to youngest, Ella, is the little sweetie at the end) http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id...35&aid=2060798 someone let me know if the link doesnt work....I sure hope everyone else waiting to meet their baby gets to meet them soon!

My Beatrix (aka Bettie Ru) is doing great! She's 9 days old today. Breastfeeding isn't going as well as it was in the beginning, but we're trying to figure it out. We've had to supplement with some formula (not exactly thrilled about it) because she's a big girl and my supply hasn't been able to keep up. I'm going to start Mother's Milk Tea and fenugreek this week. Here's a photo...

Oh, my, are those ever some adorable babies!

My little Lauren is 10 days old today. She is the most natural nurser I've ever seen. She loves to eat, which really kind of cuts back on my doing anything around the house. That combined with recovering from the c-section have left my house a disaster area. Dh has been putting together the kids' swingset this week, so he has been very little help in the house.

Sleeping is going well. The other night we put her down in her bassinette and she slept from 11p-4a! She does sleep with us and that's really nice, but I like to have at least a couple hours to sleep on my stomach and sprawled out without a little furnace next to me.

We're cloth diapering for the first time and I'm loving it! I thought I'd love the AIO's (we have some FuzziBunz that I haven't tried on her yet and also some other ones) but I've actually switched to Kissaluvs with covers and whereas most of the AIO's were leaking, we haven't had one leak!

Lauren's belly button area/cord was bleeding a little bit the other day, which freaked us out. We took her to the doctor and he said that it's probably just getting ready to fall off. We haven't been doing anything with it and she's taken a couple baths submerged. It seems like they've changed the "rules" with each of our children. I'm anxious to have it fall off so we don't have to worry about it anymore.

I don't have the recent pics of Lauren on this computer but will try to post a link later.

Francesca Zoe is now 6w2d (she was born early on May 21). We're learning a little more about how to function with her every day.

For example, we just figured out a few days ago that she will absolutely fight going to sleep, repeatedly forcing her eyes open wide just as it seemed she was about to drift off. We have learned and re-learned how to swaddle her, though I swear she's like Houdini wiggling her hands out of that blanket! We have a sidecarred crib, but she will rarely sleep in it, preferring to be right up next to me or her daddy. She sometimes sleeps well, but is more often up every 2-3 hours throughout the day and night.

She is a fabulous nurser and has grown from a birth weight of 5lb 15oz all the way up to 9lb 2oz at her weigh in two days ago! She eats and eats and eats. We had problems with her not being able to figure out how to latch when my milk came in, which made for about three rough days, but then it all worked out and we have had no problems since. We started pumping and having my husband bottle-feed once a day in preparation for me to return to work, and that is also going well. We've nursed in public just about everywhere we've gone and I now feel like half the town has seen my boobs. Good thing I'm not particularly modest!

We're cloth diapering and have loved the BumGenius AIOs that we've been using. At the rate she is growing, she'll be out of those in about 6 weeks and we have to figure out what we want to put her in then. Any suggestions? We want to keep things as easy as possible and will almost certainly go with an AIO or AI2.

She hates the baby bathtub, but likes taking baths with me in the real bathtub.

She gets SO MAD about the gas bubbles inside her and yells and yells at them until they go away.

We bought the Happiest Baby on the Block and it saved our sanity after a couple of evenings/nights of her screaming. I was so exhausted. Still am, really, just a little less so. Don't know how I'm going to handle going back to work in a couple of weeks, but I'm looking forward to it. I want to be back in grown-up world.

My husband and I both thought we would like the ring sling carrier, but neither of us did. A friend bought us an Ergo with an infant insert, and my husband loves that. I use a homemade Moby-type wrap, which I didn't think I would care for at all until I tried it out.

I expected PPD, as I have a long history of depression, but so far am doing fine. I'm very grateful for that. I don't know how I would cope if I were trying to do this on top of depression.

Here are a couple of photos from her first couple of weeks: Picture 1 and Picture 2 and her itty bitty hand.

I've been a bad DDC-er lately! We're doing ok over here, Calliope is 2.5 weeks old now, lots of nursing, pooping, and napping going on here she was 11lbs 14oz at the ped the other day, I'm really curious what her growth curve will look like since she was so big at birth!
She's started the fussy/colic thing, I expected it because my last 2 were colicky, but dang I was really hoping I escaped it this time!! I still haven't eliminated foods (my last required an extensive allergy diet ) but I'm on the lookout for it with all the crying. Her poops so far are normal but she had a diaper rash today, which is also a sign.....I don't want to give up dairy again! waa!!
I'm still really anemic, but a lot better than I was 2 weeks ago, so I'm slowly feeling better day by day. I've been going to the park and stuff like that with the older girls (and DH) and feel ok doing that, but I almost passed out trying to walk around target the other day. My DH goes back to work on the 8th and I'm so nervous about it!! He works from 5am-2pm though, so I just have to survive until the afternoon, that's the string I'm hanging onto
here's some pictures of her hangin' out at her sissy's birthday party yesterday

And one of us waiting in line to see Eclipse at midnight (yep, I took my 2 week old baby to see the latest Twilight movie, at midnight, I'm just a teensy bit obsessed!)

Max is a 'textbook' newborn. He nurses a ton and poops a ton. Doesn't sleep through the night but wakes to nurse, latches and falls asleep nursing (and so do I). He hates being put down and is in arms (mine or sibs or daddy's) or in the pouch pretty much 24/7. S'ok, I know just how fast he'll grow out of it
He is consistently fussy from 5PM-10PM but I wouldn't call it colic. He isn't screaming inconsolably, just nothing makes him happy for more than 5 or 10 minutes before we have to try something different. The rest of the day and night he is easy peasy.
Dh and I went to PF Changs and to see The Last Airbender and Max was an angel. Sleeping or nursing the whole time.

If I could have found someone to stay with the older 3, dh and I would have been taking Lauren to the midnight showing when she was 5 days old. Alas, I haven't found any time to go My ILs are coming tomorrow, though, so I'm going to try to find some time for us to sneak out and see it. Cadence went to a couple movies when she was little, one of them being a midnight showing. Between the noise and the snuggling, she just slept the whole time.

Jackie, I can't see your pics. You must have them set to friends only?

Karen, I think that stretching look from your second picture is my all-time favorite newborn thing. Lauren is waking up and she was actually just doing that.

Isabel is 5 weeks tomorrow. The time is flying right by!

She is so far a completely different kid from my first. She nurses beautifully, sleeps 3-6 hour stretches at a time, never had her days/nights mixed up, doesn't really cry or fuss unless she wants to eat and I can't get to her immediately. And, thank goodness, no colic. She is also very patient with my 3 year old DD who is up in her business CONSTANTLY.

Adjustment to life with two was way harder than I thought it would be. It was very hard to see my DD#1 so upset, jealous, and out of sorts. PPD began to rear its ugly head again, but I've managed to cut it off at the pass by upping my meds and seeing a really great post-partum therapist. Thankfully, DD#1 has adjusted quite well and we seem to be settling into a new routine. I'm tandem nursing and I have to say I don't really enjoy it. In fact, I out right dislike it, but there is not much I can do about it now. I'll think in the Fall we'll revisit our next steps in our nursing relationship.

I'm very spoiled in that my mother is a teacher and off work for the summer. She comes over almost every day to play with DD#1, help me do errands, and clean my house. I'm enjoying now because come September I'm on my own.

Whoops! Picture 1 and Picture 2, and her itty bitty hand. Those should work better!

I just got back from a cloth diaper shopping spree. I expect she will be out of her BG XS in about six weeks and need to figure out what to put her in afterwards. So we now have a variety of AIO, AI2, and pocket diapers - 7 different types, I went a bit overboard! But I know that I can resell them on ebay for pretty decent prices once I figure out which one(s) I'm keeping, so I used that as justification.

Our little Zoey is almost six weeks. For the most part we're doing okay... Our biggest issues are latching and gas pains, which she seems to get after every feeding. I eliminated dairy and other gas causing foods from my diet and have tried gripe water and mylicon to no avail. This week we're starting on a probiotic my lactation consultant swears by. My fingers are crossed that it helps her little tummy. She never cries except when she's having these pains and my heart just breaks for her!

Latch-wise, well, the lactation consultant says she's a classic "sleepy eater" and has a weak suck so even though she'll hang on the breast for an hour or more she only swallows an ounce or so, despite my doing everything short of putting an ice cube in her diaper to keep her awake. For the time being I'm pumping and giving her expressed milk until she gets 20 ounces in her (for some reason she has no problem falling asleep when bottlefed) and then I feed her from the breast the rest of the day. Since we started doing this she's been gaining nicely. She's at 8lbs 11 ounces up from 7lbs 2 ounces when we left the hospital and thankfully, she's had no problems with nipple confusion. In the weeks ahead the consultant and I are going to work on improving her latch and transitioning her back to the breast. My fingers are crossed!!!

Aww it's so great to see everyone's baby pics! Here's Karina: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...9&l=8229f0d9a0

We would have more recent photos, but DH's external hard drive got unplugged when some kids were over, and he says he's not sure if he can get the photos back. I've taken some w/my camera but can't find the cord.

Anyway, Karina is doing wonderfully. Today twice I finally got her to latch on and nurse until she fell asleep. I am hoping this will continue so I won't need to pump except for special occasions. It was so great to hear her gulp after gulp, since before she'd nurse for a while and then still be hungry so I'd end up giving her pumped milk too. Now she's passed out on my lap. It's almost dinner time and I'm still in bed with her. I am loving cuddling her all day and napping at will. I don't really mind having narcolepsy at this point. I know it'll be tougher when she gets bigger, but for now we're in heaven. My bleeding has all but stopped, and my body is feeling (not quite looking) back to normal. DH is gone for a few days, and we're getting along just fine without him. Life is good.

How was everyone's 4th of July? I couldn't believe Karina slept through all the fireworks we had at our friend's block party. I covered her ears as it was incredibly loud, and she didn't stir till the end when she woke and was hungry. I got chewed up by ants and mosquitoes, so I've spent the rest of the day scratching. The Dermaplast that the hospital gave me doesn't seem to work on me at all (anywhere!), though my husband swears by it. I'm so itchy today it's driving me crazy! That's what I get for wearing long pants. They crawled up my legs and I couldn't get them out. Guess it was worth it, since we had a marvelous time. Hope everyone else had a great weekend!!

Evelyn is 6 weeks old today, she is growing so fast. I think she is close to
10lbs already. She has her nights and days still mixed up, but we are doing better with keeping her awake during the day. Nights are hit and miss, sometimes she will sleep a long stretch of up to 5 hours, and some nights she wants to be awake for several hours when i want to be sleeping, it can be very trying, but I try to be patient and realize it wont last forever. She ends up in bed with us most nights, but i dont really mind that much, she is warm and cozy. She nurses way more than my other 2 did, and she wont take a binky at all, so I meet all of her sucking needs, which I feel great about, but also is sort of a pain when I need DH to step in for a bit because if she fusses he can't settle her down. She is giving more and more smiles every day, which the kids love, and me too of course.
I am trying to link a pic for the first time, let me know if it doesn't work.

Wyatt is going to be a week tomorrow!

So far so good. He's a great sleeper; my DD was a horrible sleeper and only napped in 15 minute chunks for most of her first weeks, so for DS to take 2-3 hour naps is amazing for me. He also sleeps a chunk of the night, and wakes only to nurse which is awesome! When he is awake he's just peaceful, and has a slight cranky period (and just fussing in between sleeps) between 9-11.

DD is smitten but it's a change having a newborn here!

Couldn't be happier though, I'll post links to pics when I upload them

here's photos taken at the birth. Some are posting fuzzy but are clear on my camera...I'll post more recent pics when we get home tonight...maybe.
