Confused after doctor's appointment - help?!

My son is 9 months old. He's always had tummy problems and reflux. So, I stopped having all dairy and soy. Seemed to help with the reflux. I don't do well with gluten (ok with Spelt though), so he had only spelt through BM. About a month ago, I went totally gluten free and his 5 times a day poops stopped. At one point I reintroduced soy lecithin and it didn't affect him.

Anyway, about 3 weeks ago, he started having red streaks in his poop. I figured they were just bits of banana. Long story - shortened - he went to the dr today to have his poop checked out. They said there was no blood dectected. It wasn't our normal doctor (I don't think the answer would have been different though), and she said that it was probably a protein that was upsetting him, but that it's nothing to be concerned about.

What?! She said to see if it keeps on happening and take it from there. So, if there was no blood, would there still be a possible allergy? Seeing red things in his poop is concerning to ME!

Any insight or references would be appreciated. I don't want to eat things that might hurt him! TIA!!

Did the doctor have any idea what the red streaks would be if not blood?

So are the streaks the only current symptom, or is he still having other allergy symptoms? If it's only the red streaks, I wouldn't necessarily assume it's an allergy. But I agree- it is worth looking into. You mentioned banana. Did they correspond to when he's eaten banana, or did you already rule that out?
