How many for twins?

Dh loves the idea of using cloth diapers (yay!) but I haven't used cloth in years. My stash of AIOs is long gone so we are starting from scratch with limited funds. What is the minimum number of diaper covers and prefolds that I should start with for twin boys? For the newborn stage I'm buying Bummis Super Brights with Indian prefolds. After that I'm probably going to try the Thirsties Duos.

I used 24 bum genius 3.0 with twins. Each used up 12 per day when they were newborn but used less diapers as they grow older. My DH and I thought about getting 48 diapers but our financial situation didn't allow us.

I would say 50. Enough for each baby to get through 2 days. For covers, I'd probably go with 5 for each baby. Maybe more if I found them reasonably priced or used.

I would also buy more than 50 prefolds if I could afford it. Because I don't like having to do laundry.

You might consider getting some Thirsties Duo Wraps, when they were on the smallest setting they fit my newborn.

How often are you planning to wash? Keep in mind that 2 days' worth of diaper for 2 kiddos may not fit in your washer. So I guess I'd plan to have enough to fill the washer and a half (to cover you for the time you will be washing and drying, plus give you a bit of a buffer. I'm thinking 4 dozen would be a good amount.

Ola makes a good point - you should be able to wash 30-36 infant prefolds at a time, so you could get 48 prefolds and 12 covers to be able to wash every other day.

Little Lions has seconds/sale prefolds for really low prices--preemie prefolds are $6/dozen right now.
