I;d like to start knitting wool pants for DS, i;m very new to knitting so I was wondering about the best types of yarn and where I can find them at a decent price.

Also can other materials be used with wool? such as wool blends with angor, cashmere?

You can use wool blends that are types of wool blended together. Cashmere is certainly decadent for something to catch the pee but it will work You can't use blends that include other types of fiber which will either wick or get stinky. Avoid wool/acrylic blends, wool/microfiber, etc. Be sure to avoid "superwash" on the label because it is a resin coated fiber that won't behave in quite the typical way.

For the best combo of cost/durability + comfort I like the Cascade brand. Cascade Ecowool is my fav, particularly because they come in such large balls you can knit a lot off them and the price is great. For general wool ing, Malabrigo and Manos del Uruguay are luxurious and easy to find in yarn stores . I only use them for longies in small and newborn size because you always sacrifice durability for softness.

Good luck!
