Flash Cards for Reading w/Pictures

Hi!

I'm looking for sight word flashcards with the word on one side and a picture on the other side, so that my very independent 6 year old can use them himself and self-check. Obviously I could make some; probably I should be able to research and find some; but if anyone has any recommendations I'd love to hear them.

Haven't come across anything quite like that, but if you browse some of the montessori sites (montessoriforeveryone.com is the one I love) you will find cards that are 'self checkable' in that one card has the picture & word, another card has just the pic, and a smaller card has the word. The idea being that the child matches up the pics & words & uses the combo card to make sure they have it correct.

there are also a lot of file folders that work in the same manner and are fun for kids. there are a ton of freebies, but we liked these sites specifically...

as for specific flashcards, i've always had good luck at the dollar store. hth.
