Do you guys know anything about this? My daugther was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at around 9 months, and the pediatrician and endocrinologist were both shocked because she was not born with it and was so young. I tried asking them about a cause, but they didn't seem to interested in how/why she got it. She's taking synthroid right now and it's working, but the more I learn, the more I want to take her to a more holistic doctor, but it's scary because she's still so young and can't tell me how she feels.
I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this or if you have information to share. I couldn't find another case of a child developing it in their first year of life with all the research I did (but I'm new to this whole thing). I really want to know if something external caused this or could it be that her thyroid was "bad" from birth, but not bad enough for the test to pick it up? We're switching to a new endocrinologist, so I'm going to ask all these questions again- the first doctor had no answers and kind of made me feel like I was being ridiculous for having questions!
Thanks.
