Solids poo is staining my dipes!

And sunning barely touched the stains. I had 9 dipes out in the sun today because they just had dark, dark gray stains on them. The sun barely made a difference. A few of the dipes were older and already pretty beat up, but one of them was brand new, and the first time he wore it he pooed in it, and it stained.

What can I do to get these stains out and keep them out? We've discussed diaper liners, which is a pain, but would help both with the detritus in the washing machine and the stains (I would hope)... but until they get here and for the dipes already stained, what's the solution? Some of his poos have been down-right black, so I'm not surprised they're staining.

The 9 from today went into an Oxyclean soak and are still in the machine because after that soak I've already rinsed them 4 times and still getting suds. So I don't know how much that helped, but I've got to get to bed soon.

Nobody has any ideas? I just put the dipes in the dryer, and the whole soak/wash cycle barely touched the black stains. I have a pristine UtN PF with this large oval of black right in the middle of it.

Were the diapes dirty when you did the soak?

how hot was the water?

do you not spray the diapes beforehand? how long do they sit before washing?

sorry, toddler asleep on me & pinning one arm

I've never been big on working hard to get out diaper stains, so that said I've found that over the time I use stuff and continue to wash it everything does end up coming out on its own.

You could line with a cloth wipe, for now. I'm forgetting the details now, but a soak with some lemon juice might also help out and would get an extra boost from the sunning if you keep that up for the worst of the stains (soaking in general before washing - like if you load up the machine and just let it sit an hour or so, and then continue the cycle - I've found to get stuff out a bit more too).

I don't have any good tricks... I don't really worry about stained diapers. They are made to catch poop.

For the future, do you swish in the toilet or just toss straight into the pail? I do seem to get almost no stains on bad poos due to that cold toilet water.
