Anyone use plain old hydrogen peroxide in the washer with the dipes? I know the main thing going in oxyclean is the hydrogen peroxide but I am worried about it causing buildup....thoughts??

I am new to CDing and can't really speak from experience, but I just wanted to say that this is a good question and one I have been wondering about myself. Thanks for asking it!

I have read on a few cloth diapering websites that Hydrogen Peroxide can be thought of as liquid oxygen bleach and is CD-safe, but I haven't tried it myself, and I'm not sure whether this applies to all CDs or just certain kinds. I have used it to disinfect other types of laundry and haven't seen any buildup--less, if anything--but I realize washing cloth diapers is a different ballgame.

Anyway, I hope you'll get some good answers from some more experienced mamas soon. :-)

I used peroxide bleach (Ecover brand - just hydrogen peroxide that is a stronger concentration than the medical kind) with prefolds and polar fleece Bummis covers. We never had any problems. I never had any kind of stinky build up, but did strip the diapers once for absorbency purposes.
