wrap or mei tai for a momma when price matters?

My cousin recently had her third baby. She's not had a wrap or mei tai before, but would like one. She's having a hard time getting anything done because the baby wants held all the time. Also price does matter. They are pretty broke right now. Does anyone have any recommendations? Also I've never used a mei tai with a newborn. Would a mei tai work for a 2 month old? I'm thinking a mei tai might appeal more because its easier to get on.

I say go w/ a mt. Much easier to get on & she can use it longer than a stretchy wrap (woven wraps are $$$). We started wearing DD in our Baby Hawk at about 2wks. There are great directions on the bh website.

Since $ is an issue I say look for used. As long as she is not picky about patterns or colors she should be able to find a used one for $40-$60. I say look for a babyhawk w/ a headrest.

She can make a wrap for next to nothing, even without being able to sew. A couple of meters of fabric, cut down the middle, would make two free wraps. Even an old sheet can be used this way. A Mei Tai, for me, was nice but less versatile (and more expensive) than a wrap.

Thanks mommas I think I'll just offer to make her a wrap for free. Then money won't be an object and it would be super cheap and easy for me.
