The weaning or the age?

DS is almost 15mo. I'm almost 3mo pregnant and my supply is fading FAST. I tried "don't offer, don't refuse" and ended up nursing all.day.long. I can't do it. After a while it makes my skin crawl and then I'm in so much pain I want to cry. So, I started trying to wean him...

Oh.My.God.

I had it cut down to 3 nursing sessions a day...once in the morning, once in the afternoon before a nap, and once before bed. DH handles nighttime (I actually don't even sleep in the same bed right now) so DS is almost nightweaned. This weekend we had family over and DS got distracted and didn't seem to need his afternoon nursing session. I didn't press the issue. I try to "cut him off" around 4pm so that there's actually milk for bedtime. He did fine all weekend...and then yesterday rolled around.

It was hell. He cried almost all day, about anything. He had to be held (by daddy oddly enough). I mean, he woke up SCREAMING. He screamed most of the day and right before bed. Honestly, he just passed out to go to bed. (He sleeps in bed with DH) Same deal this morning. Usually we nurse when DH gets up for work (6am) until DS decides to get up (around 8am) with no problems. Not this morning. Every time he came off the boob (usually when he started dry nursing or it just plain hurt) he screamed bloody murder.

Help?

I wish I had some advice for you. Just wanted to chime in to say that DD nursed all day long too when I got pregnant with DS. Some babies just want to nurse more when mama's milk starts to dry up - my girlfriend's daughter was just the opposite.

I hope someone here has some good advice for you!
