Oh my. Now THAT sounds absolutely bulletproof!

Her combo last night didn't leak until about 8 this morning, so... Of course, I only have that one AIO. It was SO heavy with pee this morning

Which do you think can hold more liquid-- the BG microfiber insert or a yellow edge prefold? Tonight I am going to try a fleece-lined Bum Genius double stuffed, either 2 inserts, or one insert + one prefold.

It's kind of like a game now. I am secretly a little proud of myself for not simply giving up and buying a pack of sposies.

I think an insert vs a prefold hold differently... in my experience MF absorbs more faster, but natural fibers hold more longer, does that make sense? That is why I use the MF and the hemp or PF together.. which it sounds like what you ended up with last night!!! It is kind of like a game... my 1 year old is in a different pocket tonight and I am pretty sure it is going to leak... but I didn't have anything else to put him in I am proud of you for not going out and buying sposies too!!

Tonight we're trying a fleece-lined BG 3.0, stuffed with a Super Do. The Official Back Up Diaper is a regular suedecloth BG, stuffed with 2 BG inserts. I haven't tried stuffing a prefold in yet, since they seem so much bulkier than the microfiber inserts. I'm worried that my leaks are from the legs gaping from a jam packed diaper. IDK.

ETA that it seems like my prefolds absorb better. When I drip water on the prefold it absorbs INSTANTLY, and on my inserts, it stays on top and rolls off, and/or eventually sinks in.

How long have you been using your dipes? We get leaks sometimes when we need to strip... my MF and pockets hold onto stuff like nobodys business so usually a little bleach and a bunch of extra hot rinses twice a year is needed...

I had never heard of this until yesterday and it's a freaking awesome idea. I'm going to email her in the morning and see what she can do. Gee... I wonder if I need a new pocket diaper too...

Sorry! I missed this earlier. They were custom. She is fabulous to work with- she has the best cs! I love the procool pouches I got from her.

10-11 months now. Maybe a bit more. I did do a bit of bleach a while back. And I've tried to do it now. I'm in a temporary apartment with a washer that doesn't always work. I have one load that is (hopefully) stripped.

Should the microfiber inserts instantly absorb, or is it normal for a drop of water to "sit" on top for a second?

water sits on my mf inserts. My hemp actually absorbs faster. I've read that that's not how it should be. I haven't used my mf much, but I tend to have better luck with cotton.
I'm going to start using my mf again (seems comfier as an insert than hemp), and plan to get some Rockin green to see if it will remove residue, and make them work better.

Hmm...I already have Rockin Green, and before that used Country Save and Charlie's only on my dipes. So I wonder what is causing my buildup?

In my 2+ years of cloth diapering experience I have come to think that sometimes nothing CAUSES your build up, it just happens. I mean, it is cloth that is pooped and peed on daily for basically years. Yes, it gets washed but compared to how people used to cloth diaper (flats and boiling to wash) we don't wash as well and the fabrics we use are harder to wash. This isn't to say your diapers aren't getting clean but I think sometimes they just need a little extra help to get out anything hiding in them from months of use, ya know?

Can you boil microfiber?

Last night she leaked (not too bad, but still) up the zipper of her sleeper. I've never had leaks in this spot before. Is this from tummy sleeping? Gah! Her dipe seems tight enough on her belly, so yet again!

I'm almost convinced that Rockin Green is causing my diapers to repel. I've switched back to WonderWash and I'm doing lots of hot rinses. It could very well be coincidence...

I'm unreasonably excited about this whole concept. DS can't tolerate natural fibres (wet) next to his skin so I've had to put away all my fitteds and prefolds and covers. It's the covers really that make me sad - I had fantasies of having him in wool wraps a lot of the time. Perhaps that is again a possibility!

Yup, you can boil MF! I have done it But I have also found a little bleach and a lot of hot washes yields about the same result, so whichever is easiest for you to do. My kids leak like that when they tummy sleep too... tis annoying!
