10 m/o and weird gasping noises

dd for the past few days has been making this gasping noise at random intervals that every time makes it sound like she is in some sort of distress.

my head tells me this is just one of those new fun sounds that she's trying out. there's nothing else going on...no coughing, not sick, no pattern to this gasp, and it's always just one at a time...

but it still freaks me out a little bit. anyone else have a babe experimenting with this noise? should i be concerned?

My ds is 9 months, and he makes a strange inhaling sound that I'm certain is just something he's practicing vocalizing. Not sure it's the same thing though.

My babe did that at 4.5 months. She makes the noise as if someone was held underwater and just returned to the surface for air. I knew she was fine because on her exhales it was a sweet, happy, sigh. Then she'd do that crazy inhale again, then exhale a happy sigh. I think she was just learning how to inhale through her mouth. ???

you both did a better job of describing than i did but sounds like the same thing. good to know that if other babes do it then it's just a "thing."

With my kids it was a combination of 2 reasons. One- Reflux. And Two- Excessive ammounts of spit. All my kids have gone through all this "noise" "Stage" issue/thing. I think that you should listen to your head, but be attentive and mindfull. Hope it is just a stage issue, not a reflux issue.

were there other symptoms of the reflux?
