I had planned to bf through my last pregnancy. Ds was 2 and only nursing once or twice a day but I hadn't planned to wean. One day he just latched then quickly unlatched and looked at me and laughed. I said, "what?" He smiled and said, "You're silly mommy!" and ran away to play. That was the end. He never asked to nurse again.
This time my dd was only 14 months and I really hadn't wanted her to wean yet as she is such an attached little person to me but sure enough one day she latched then BIT me and cried. She tried again - same thing. Then she didn't want to try anymore. And there have been SO MANY times since (she's now 20 months and I'm due in a few weeks) that I wish I could have nursed her for comfort, through illness, etc...
Anyways - does anyone know if the milk taste changes or if it just dries up and if there's anything natural to do to encourage milk production or transition a little one through the taste change?
Also - I'm honestly wondering if dd will show any interest in nursing again once she sees the baby breastfeeding. I already know she is going to want the attention the baby will have. Anyone else had a little one self wean then show interest and start up nursing again?
