And how many weeks are they? Sometimes it seems like my 6wo DD sleeps most of the day... we always seem to have a really nice awake period mid morning tho. I'm curious if other babes are as sleepy as mine.

My ds is 4 weeks old and wakes up at 8:30 am and is awake til about 10, then takes a 2-3 hour nap and then is awake again for another hour or 2 and the pattern repeats til he passes out at midnight and then only wakes up to nurse. I'd say he has about 6 hours a day of awake time? But i haven't really tallied it up

Too early to say for this one - he's only 4 days old. But DS1 was a terrible sleeper and very colicky. I distinctly remember reading a magazine that said that newborns should sleep 16 hours a day and just sobbing - because DS1 only slept in 15 minute increments between nursing, pooping, and screaming...that boy could go for hours without really sleeping. So enjoy that sleepy baby of yours!

Max is a sleeper. I'm guessing he is still sleeping 18-20 hours a day. He'll have a couple periods of quiet and awake that last about an hour each-once in the morning and once in the late afternoon. Other than that he may have short bouts of wakefulness but they are brief--usually 15-20 minutes before he dozes off.
A few nights he had some serious fussy time for hours in the evening but even that was mostly sleeping alternated with 15-20 minutes of crying instead of quiet and alert.
He sleeps all night...when he isn't nursing. He and I go to bed around 11. He is usually already asleep. He wakes around 1 to nurse and then sleeps and nurses on and off the rest of the night. I've never had to do more than nurse him and burp him in the night-he has even stopped pooping at night so I don't need to change him. Good baby!!

We have about 3 hours of awake and peaceful here, but spread out over the day in short snatches. She's 4.5weeks and generally sleeps for 3hours between most feeds, but in the evening she cluster feeds for up to 5 or 6 hours, and then sleeps a 5hour stretch in the night most nights. Last night she needed to poop/fart and was on and off the breast from 3am to 6am grunting and yelling and snuffling and driving me crazy!
She's now fast asleep and very peaceful, so hopefully she'll stay that way for another 2 hours so i can get a few things done before we go out with big sis for the afternoon.

I have always felt guilty about not getting my kids into any kind of routine. Our life has always been really chaotic. It seems like no 2 days are alike. Even in the 2 weeks of Lauren's life, it's been so different. Some days she is awake for hours just looking around or swinging or watching her siblings. Other days we nap in bed most of the day. We had one day where she was passed around to family at a 4th of July party and she ended up sleeping pretty much all day except maybe an hour or 2 in the morning before the party and maybe an hour in the evening when she was looking around at everyone. We had one day where she and Cadence napped at the same time, and she actually slept in her bassinette rather than someone's arms. That was nice! I'll have to aim for that more.

My DD is a sleepy one. She is 5 1/2 weeks and takes 2-3 hour naps between feedings/changing and about an hour or two of awake time. I haven't tallied it up, but at this age she should be getting 14-15 hours per day. Her night sleep ranges from waking every 2 hours to last night glorious 7 1/2 hour stretch. At night she feeds and goes right back to sleep.
slsurface, DD#1 was the same as your son. I hope this one is you sleepy, peaceful babe!
