My 22 month old DS has a tremendous list of food sensativities/intolerances. His typical reaction includes a rash on his face, sometimes reflux and spitting up. Occasionally we have given him something that causes him to get a burned like diaper rash as soon as the stool touches his bottom.
Recently I have noticed that there are certain foods that appear to go through him very quickly and are undigested. For example, I gave him pine nuts last week. They gave him loose stools and were totally undigested. I guess he apparently didn't chew them well. Since they are soft I figured they would digest fairly easily.
I have given him Teff hot cereal for breakfast and by lunch time he pooped it out looking just like it did when it went in. today we did barley.....same thing happened. woke up from his nap, slightly loose stool and undigested barley. Quinoa doesn't show up in his poop until the next day, but if I give him the actual cooked grains it appears digested. Although I'm not sure if it's just the "shell" on the seeds that I'm seeing.
What do you think? I'm wondering if he is intolerant to these things and that is why it's going through so quickly.
