meat smells disgusting!

I have been a meat eater all my life. Then I started thinking differently, learning more... I have been on the way to healthier eating for some time. I have eaten only organically raised meat (or game) mostly for 11 years. But after watching and reading so many things (Food Inc, Earthlings, Life Running Out of Control), I can come to no conclusion other than it is not in my interests to eat mammals. So I stopped. It has been at least a month (I don't pay much attention to clock time, so hard to say how long it has been). I did have a couple pieces of bacon a few days after making my decision. Bacon was pretty much my favorite. It was a brand of organic that exdh was cooking, no nitrites or nitrates, etc... anyway it didn't taste good. Then a few days ago, he was cooking a steak. I was sleeping. When I woke up I came out to the living area to find out what sort of dead animal the cat had dragged in. I mean, it smelled of death to me. There was no scent like what steak cooking used to smell to me. It was certainly odd to me. I didn't know that could happen for me. Sure helps once it doesn't smell of food. Now, I just am waiting to move somewhere else so I don't have to smell it anymore.....

Well, of course meat smells icky, but some how the way you're describing it goes beyond the normal veg*n find meat icky level. Could you be pregnant? That extra level of sensitivity to food smells sounds just like early morning sickness.

It would be immaculate conception. I haven't had sex in over a year. But thanks for reading my pat myself on the back for getting over eating mammals post.

oh and tonight I cooked baby back ribs (one of my old faves) for dd1 and exdh with my homemade bbq sauce. My mouth watered from the smell. I am fluctuating daily apparently. I didn't eat any though. I will do what feels right at any given moment and I don't see how i could ever return to mammals, but who knows. I am still having (ethically raised and organically fed) chicken breast occasionally and eggs for now....

When I stopped eating meat I became sensitive to the smell too. I even have a hard time at the grocery store when I walk past the meat department.. I don't have to look, but I can smell it and I cringe every time!

I can't go by/through the meat dept either. If DH wants meat, he generally has to go to the store himself because the smell makes me ill. When I was pregnant....it was completely unbearable.
