Why minky?

I've just recently discovered minky diaper covers. My question is, why minky? I get that it's soft, but other than that is there a benefit to the material over others? It seems like it would add more bulk to a diaper, so those of you that have minky covers, what do you like about them compared to other polyester or cotton PUL covers?

Minky is soft and fun to pet.

IMO, there is no other benefit. It doesn't even work as a cover unless it's lined with PUL.

I bought one minky AIO for my dd when I was pregnant because I was awash with hormones and I needed something to pet. I petted the living daylights out of it - It worked great, very durable. She wore it, like, four times. It was incredibly bulky. She was a summer baby, so we could pair it with a t-shirt (or with the absence of a t-shirt) and not worry about getting it under clothes, but even so, she looked hot.

I agree that it's bulky and warm.

I have 2 Blueberry minky covers that I got on clearance. They are size large, which my baby pretty much is in every brand of cloth dipe I've tried. But these have to be wrapped so far that the velcro doesn't really match up. (And the velcro is so "sticky" that I'm always afraid it's going to peel apart.)

They are super cute covers, and were a good deal at the time, but I reach for my Thirsties covers first!

Thanks for your input! I kind of had the feeling it was soft, but warm and bulky.

Stik- that's so cute that you were petting a diaper while I was preggo, I had my fluffy cat to pet all the time. She was obsessed with me when I was pregnant! she would pet MY face in the morning to wake me up!

Yeah, it is pretty much just cuteness.
