Neither my strawberry jam nor my black raspberry jam set this year. Is it safe to eat?

Yeah, assuming it sealed and you used a recipe that was safe.

Just use it as pancake syrup!!!

Good over ice cream too

I switched to Pomona's pectin a few years ago and have never had any issues with setting. It used to be hit or miss with the regular stuff. Which, btw, nobody but me minded because it made great syrup!

One year I had a lot of grape syrup from jelly that didn't set...ITA with others, should be good over pancakes.

If you made them recently, you can try to reheat with some added pectin and then re-canning them, I think Certo has directions on their site for it.

perfect mixed w/ plain yogurt!

Last year my crabapple jelly didn't set. I grumbled and finally re-cooked it. It's fine now. As long as the seal is tight it should be okay to eat.

Great suggestions everybody! We made some blueberry jelly last year, and it didn't set. 2 Large quart jars! I will go right now and put some on my yogurt Thank you very much!

You should be canning your jam in pint or half-pint jars. I've never seen instructions for proper canning in a quart size jar, although pie filling is often canned in quart jars and that seems similar. I wonder if that might be part of your problem, though.

I have found that certain brands of pectin need to be boiled longer in order for the jam to set. You could try boiling the jam again for a few minutes. Or, runny jam makes a very yummy topping for lots of things--we like it on oatmeal.

Agreed that it can be recooked and will probably set. Try making it in smaller batches, too.
