This was on Discovery Health last night. Did anyone see it? I missed the begining how did they end up homeless? Why couldn't they stay with her mom who was keeping their one year old? Also she said that the reason that they couldn't get assistance was because of her husbands criminal record but did that also prevent them from going to a shelter.

I've seen that episode before. I don't remember them covering why they couldn't stay with her mom, but I guess it wasn't an option or something they were able to do.

They couldn't stay with her mom because her parents didn't like her husband.
They ended up homeless because he lost his job, I think that happened after they found out she was pregnant. Her husband has a felony on his record from stealing a car when he was younger, atleast I think that's how it went.
Funny, I've seen that show probably 3 times, and everytime it's the same episode about that couple. And the first time I saw it was a couple of years ago. I wonder if they couldn't find anymore pregnant homeless women who would be on tv? :

They do different versions. It's I'm Pregnant and...

There's one with someone who is addicted, one who is bi-polar etc.

I saw the preview for I'm pregnant and a nudist. I'm not sure how that would make a pregnancy more difficult or interesting.

I'd like to see that episode. I spent about three months out of my last pregnancy living in my car. Not great times.

I'm going to go try and find/save it to my dvr.

Sure would be easier...especially when you grow out of your maternity clothes those last few weeks. Might be worth considering next time...

Please don't look down on people like that, I'm in the same sitution now. It's hard imagine yourself in their shoes, worrying about just the most simplest things that people with homes take advantage of. I have been homeless for going on 3 years now and just found out that I am pregnant. Its hard, real hard. I have been in school since October 2010 and wanted to wait to have kids but things don't always go as plan. Yes I know how to you condoms but when you don't have money how do you buy them and yes I know of the pill but once again no money. The good thing at the end of that show was they did find a good, stable place to raise their child.

Banannaanna,

I just wanted to pop in and say that planned parenthood almost always has free condoms on their table in the waiting room. If you are in a rural area, local health departments will give you condoms for free, and birth control for nearly free if you qualify financially. In the world we live in today, I personally do not think it is okay to state that you cannot prevent pregnancy because you cant afford the percautions. If you have access to the internet, google "free condoms" and find about 10 different websites that will send you samples or coupons for free condoms. If nothing else, the library has books on how the reproductive system works and you can chart your cycle and abstain for 2 weeks out of the month and pull out for the other two weeks and you are going to have about the same rate of effectivness as correct use of a condom.

That being said, Im sorry you are in the situation you are in. I hope you are able to make things better soon :). Good luck with school!
