What fabric for embellishing PFs?

What type of fabric works best? flannel? knit? woven?

Depends on what you are looking for. I don't think a knit would be necessary because prefolds don't have stretch anyway. If you used cotton prints you could find some really cute stuff and it wouldn't fade as fast as flannel would. Flannel also has really cute prints and it would be more absorbant than the cotton prints. Personally, I'd just use whatever fabrics I liked because it would just be for show.

You could use just about anything. Wovens would probably be easiest since they are thin and don't tend to fade or pill like flannel would.
