also, it might make sense to wait until your baby is here before buying anything if you're really worried about wasting money. babies come in very different sizes, and buying newborn sizes might be a total waste of money for those that end up with a larger newborn, while you might have to go out and get preemie sizes for another.

I was going to suggest second hand as well. At least here, there seem to be lots of people who spent hundreds on full sets, and then hardly used them, I know I picked up almost $600 worth (new) for only $150 - and that wasn't for the cheapest types of cds.

Thank you mamas for all of your awesome suggestions. We bought some prefolds this weekend and lucky for us, Olien offered to send us some to start out for free. Wow, I love that a message board like this could be so supportive!
