2 Year Molars

I know every child is different, but I still want to hear others experiences.

How long did it take for your child's 2 year molars to cut through? My son has been working on his for about 2 weeks now. Lots of fingers in his mouth (very out of the ordinary for him), fussier than usual, and tons of nursing. And of course I have no idea where his nursing necklace is . . .

I can't wait for those suckers to cut through!!

DS is 31 months and his last one is showing now. It's hard to say how long they took, b/c he has NEVER complained about teething pain. Even when he was a baby, he'd put his fingers in his mouth and no teeth would come til 2-3 months after he'd stopped. Drooling, not much more than normal. I can remember 2-3 nights of crying where I gave him Tylenol, assuming it was teeth.

For his 2 year molars, we've had nothing obvious. He's two. So any behavioral stuff is attributed to growth spurts and the age itself. When I noticed one of the molars coming in while brushing his teeth, I asked if it hurt and he said no. We got a few days of bleeding while brushing, which is what clued me in to each one, but by then the tooth is through the gum and not as painful (I guess) as just before it shows up. So I have NO idea! I just feel so bad that he went through all that pain and never got any extra lovin's for it.

(As for timing, I think it's only been a couple of months since the first one showed up and now the last one is mostly in, so hopefully it won't last much longer for your little guy!)

dd is 27...almost 28mo, and she just started cutting her first 2y molars about a month ago. One is most of the way through, a second is about halfway through. I don't think the others have started yet

She's a really slow teether, though. A dose of tylenol at night is helping.

Over a month. They are still not fully through. She has better and worse times with dealing with it.

Thanks for the responses!! Sounds like we'll be dealing with this for a while. I can feel some bumps but nothing cutting through yet. Lots of fingers in the mouth so I'll just try to keep them as clean as possible. I'm really excited for the end of teething!!

Over six months. We brought dd to the dentist at 24 mo old and the dentist saw them starting to poke through. They still aren't through all the way.

A year!

I think anyhow! lol

He had 16 teeth at a year of age - thats a lot really! He got them fast thought - they came in large groups!

Then nothing for a whole year!...He only had 4 to go - those very last back molars!
That whole year though, they kept giving him trouble. For the whole year, it was always 'here they come - the last teeth!'...and nothing...ever!

Until RIGHT after he turned two. They all four of them popped up at once! And then peace at last! lol
