DS will be 2 YO in a couple weeks & it seems he’s now fully, officially self-weaned! (Although I’ve made no efforts to encourage it.)

I worked nearly full time, but, in addition to pumping, I BFed DS at lunchtime during my work day, as well as mornings, evenings, & weekends. Then I changed jobs when he was 14 mos old, so I no longer BFed at lunch time.

Probably by 16 mos or so, he stopped wanting to BF when I got home from work. We were down to only first thing in the morning & last thing before bed, with the occasional pre-nap nursing.

The past few months, he has seemed disinterested in nursing pre-bedtime. He’d sometimes latch on & not suck, or not latch on at all. For a couple months, we’ve been down to only first thing in the morning.

Now he’s not even doing that for the past several days. Just no interest. So I think we’re done. I must admit I’m surprised. He nursed 13X per day when he was born & still BFed frequently through his 1st bday. It seemed like he’d never NOT WANT IT. It really did seem that way.

Q for you ladies, I guess I don’t have to worry about infections or plugged ducts or anything since we have tapered down so gradually? After having been lactating for 2 years the idea of just STOPPING – That’s it, no more – is odd to me! Although I feel fine now even though it’s been like 4 days or more since he last BFd.

<sigh> so bitter sweet!
