Cloth Suggestions for a Bathrobe

Thread Starter
I'm fairly new at sewing and found a simple pattern for a bathrobe that I can make. The pattern suggested cotton flannel or cotton knits/blends. I found a cotton/polyester knit that i like (soft) but am wondering if it will feel good on wet skin. What fabrics do you guys recommend for a bathrobe that will feel good going on just-out-of-the shower/bath skin LOL?

TIA!

When I get a chance to actually sew for myself again, I am planning to make a robe out of cotton terry cloth. I love getting out of the shower and putting a towel on my head and wrapping a towel-robe around me. Love it!

PS- I have found, though, that sewing terry cloth can sometimes get messy under the needle plate.... be sure to clean under there often!

Terry cloth is VERY messy! Don't wear black while you sew!!!

I love my cotton knit robe and satin robe the best. I donated all the others, except I kept one that zips up. If I could find a cotton knit one that zips, that would be my FAVE!!!!

My DD loves her fleece robe right out of the shower. It isn't absorbent, but seems to wick the moisture off of her. She's 9. When she was younger, she loved the terry cloth robes and terry cloth over-the-head hooded towels.

I'm not a fan of terry cloth robes myself. They are too heavy for my tastes. We live in San Diego, though, and have no A/C.
