Random hive two days in a row?

Thread Starter
My one year old has been eating a varied diet for months with no sign of allergy or intolerance. Both yesterday and today, he developed one single, seemingly random, hive. Yesterday it was on his thigh, and today, on his lower arm. I am no stranger to food and environmental allergies, as a longtime sufferer of both. My little one has not recently tried new foods, new sunscreens or anything different that I can think of. What can a random hive in a baby signify, if not an allergy? (He does not currently have a virus or illness of any kind.) Ideas?

My FIL gets idiopathic hives. Apparently they are hives for no reason.
