Coughing dog and inverted sneezes

My 8 you lab mix has been coughing for the past 3 days. Sometimes she coughs up white mucus. She hasn't been around any other dogs for 2-3 weeks except for our new rescue dog who isn't sick. I called the vet who said dogs can get colds, and that kennel cough's incubation period is 7-10 days, so it shouldn't be that. He said if she didn't start feeling better in a day or two to bring her in.

Any ideas? I think she's only been sick once or twice in the 7 years we've had her!

Also, our new shih tzu/lhasa apso mix has daily inverted sneezes. They're over really quick and they don't seem to both him, but I wonder if this is normal. Is it true that dogs with shortened noses (his is about 1.5 inches from eyes to tip of nose) have more of these sneezes, or could it be allergies?

Thanks!

When we first got our rescue dog in January the exact same thing happened, the inverted sneezes (he's a boxer so he def. has the short snout) and coughing up white foamy gunk. It almost sounded like he was trying to clear his throat, and it often happened when he got excited.
Anyways, I was really worried and started researching like crazy, I had the rescue ladies come over and check him out. They re-assured me he appeared fine and was likely just reacting to something in the air maybe, or reacting to his recent bordadella *sp shot. ITA: I am not sure yet how I feel about pet vax's, he came with all that junk done already.
I took him to get registered with our city and the SPCA vet suggested maybe he had chewed some wood and was trying to get a shard down his throat.
But he was otherwise not exhibiting other symptoms of KC, like lethargy, extreme coughing at night, fever, lack of appetite etc, that and they say because he was vaxed its impossible
He ended up fine after this lingered for about 3 weeks. I felt better just treating him more like a human child. he basically had symptoms of an allergic reaction, maybe seasonal allergies. I monitored his energy output, food intake, poops etc..all that was fine!

Either way, sorry for my ramble. I guess I wasn't really much help but I just figured that my experience can at least attest that there isn't always something seriously wrong

When in doubt, see your vet
