eco-friendly kitchen sponge?

I'm looking for a somewhat eco-friendly kitchen sponge. Any recommendations on brands? I bought one once a couple of years ago ... one of those cellulose fiber ones but it didn't work very well and I'm wondering if there's something new and improved out there.

When I did a search for eco friendly sponges I had Twist Sponges come up. They look to be cellulose sponges made from sustainably harvested forests, without any gross antibacterial chemicals (from what I can tell), and should be compostable. They also make a loofah sponge and a hemp scrubber that look to be tougher than your average sponge.

I use microfiber sponges. I don't know how eco-friendly they are on the production side, but they can be washed in the dishwasher or washing machine and mine have lasted years.

I have been using sponges made with natural fibers...I think it is part agave plant, some recycled paper..not sure what else..but they are great and I can get them at our grocery store.

I've had the best ones from Scotch brite? They make a crunchy one that they sell next to their traditional colored green ones.

Do you know loofah? It's a dried plant (some sort of cucumber) and therefore 100% compostable.

How about using a dish rag? A towel to wash dishes that can be put in the washing machine and reused- can't get more Eco friendly then that

That's true (and I use a rag myself) but for some jobs you can use something a bit tougher, especially when fat is involved. I personally prefer a brush for that. In Germany, we have wooden dishwashing brushes with replaceable heads. (My present one isn't very eco any more because I bought it here while our stuff was still in a container on its way to China.)

It isn't a sponge but I knitted myself a cotton washrag and it cleans and washes dishes something awesome! I am loving it and in the process of making another!

I also knit dishcloths. I knitted about 10 so I can wash them frequntly. They are now getting holes so I need to get knitting and make some more.

a friend crochet me some "dish scrubbers" I actaully like them alot. They are made from tulle it looks like. but I bet you can use onion bags or something to reuse.

I use a cotton knitted dishrag (from etsy - I don't knit).  I have a brush that I use when a dish needs scrubbing.  The brush is plastic with plastic bristles, but I've been using the same one for a few years and I can put in the dishwasher to wash it really hot.
