Question... cloudy mucus on tip

Hi mamas! Hoping you can help with my question. My 4.5 yo intact ds recently noted some discomfort at the base of his penis, and when I went to check, I noticed some cloudy mucus at the tip of his penis. His urine is clear otherwise, and there is no redness. He had pain again after urination the next day, but I didn't see any mucus. Today he didn't complain of any pain, but there is a little mucus. Not sure if cloudy white mucus is normally present in boys his age? Thanks in advance for any insight you may have.

The shedding of cells (Smegma) from underneath the foreskin as it separates from the head of the penis can present in different ways, e.g. small crumbs of whitish pasty material, or washing out in the urine making it look milky. Not sure what the "mucus" part means, but the whiteness could be some of these shed cells. Could be he's going through a little bit of progression of separation underneath, and these symptoms will settle down on their own shortly.

Ah, that's great! I was hoping it could be entirely normal. I'll keep an eye out. Thank you for the reassurance.

Sounds like smegma mixed with urine to me as well. The pain could be from the separation going on. A helpful thread http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=764732
